Green Bean arrived at the Pennsylvania SPCA after being rescued from a dog fighting operation along with 32 additional dogs.

While numerous of his peers quickly secured affectionate families, Green Bean unfortunately remained in the shelter for more than two years. Why, you might wonder?

Green Bean, a Pitbull, endured the burden of unwarranted labels – classified as a villain, frightening, and even a monster.

Despite his gentle nature, Green Bean was seldom offered an opportunity to express his genuine self…

Rachel, a volunteer at the Pennsylvania SPCA and an animal advocate, was among the few individuals who immediately recognized Green Bean for his true nature – an incredibly sweet and affectionate dog.

From the instant she laid eyes on him at the shelter, she was irresistibly attracted to him.

Like many, she believed that Green Bean remained unadopted for two years solely due to his history because otherwise, he was an impeccable dog.

“He was always grinning at everyone. He spent two years in the shelter, which is just mind-boggling to me, an animal in a shelter for two years and still thrilled to see you,” Rachel shared with GeoBeats Animals.

Despite his challenging history and all the trials he faced, Green Bean was perpetually a cheerful and joyous boy anticipating affection at his kennel gates.

“He would simply come, wagging his tail and genuinely smiling. That was his form of greeting, coming forward and just beaming,” Rachel remarked.

Throughout the two years he was in the shelter, the two developed a strong connection. Rachel frequently took the charming pup off the premises, which he thoroughly enjoyed.

He was always excellent on the leash, simply relishing the various scents.

“People continue to judge, saying, this dog is intimidating. I never felt unsafe with him, not once,” Rachel stated.

Whenever Green Bean spots a toy, he completely melts, akin to a child on Christmas enjoying the most wonderful day.

Rachel has always believed that Pitbulls are the most affectionate dogs regardless of their ‘negative’ reputation.

“I believe many individuals don’t give these dogs a chance because they’re simply, honestly, I think they’re frightened … People just instantly assume, ‘oh Pitbull, they’re aggressive’, but they truly aren’t, it’s all about how they’re trained,” Rachel remarked.
