Rescuing canines is not a one-off task.
Upon reflecting, I understand it’s not a job per se. It’s a calling. Once you commit, you’re in for a lifetime.
Suzette Hall, an experienced rescuer from California, was aware of this reality. Yet, she also recognized the emotional weight that accompanied seeing abandoned, mistreated, and injured dogs each day.
Some days, she found herself anxiously waiting in front of the veterinary clinic, hoping for the best while fearing the worst for her rescues.
This was one of those moments…
No One Knew How Long She Had Been There
Recently, Hall received a call that left her utterly devastated.
A group of workers at a local cinema in Southern California reached out concerning a dog lying helplessly outside.
The most painful fact was, she was gravely injured. The dog couldn’t move at all. She just lay there, hoping that someone compassionate would take notice of her, wishing for a miracle.
Hall hurried to the location, acutely aware that every second counted in her life-saving endeavor. And this was undoubtedly one of those occasions!
Regrettably, no one seemed to have any information about this dog or how long she had suffered through this ordeal. Her agony must have been unfathomable.
“Who knows how long she was lying there, severely injured, so small. I scooped her up and drove as quickly as I could to my vet. Please, please pray. She is in really dire condition. I don’t even have words to express anymore,” Hall wrote in a Facebook post.
The puppy, later named Naomi, was swiftly admitted to the clinic, where her treatment commenced. Unfortunately, her prognosis was not optimistic.
The veterinarians stated that Naomi was likely hiding beneath a vehicle in the vicinity when she got run over.
The x-ray disclosed that both sides of her pelvis were entirely crushed, causing complete paralysis.
Moreover, Naomi was in significant pain. Her condition was beyond any possible recovery, and there was nothing the devoted medical team could do.
Ultimately, it led to one conclusion…
Heartbreaking News
Regrettably, little Naomi, who remained courageous until the very end, passed away hours later. She lost her struggle for life, leaving Hall and everyone at the clinic utterly shattered.
“My heart is crushed. I couldn’t save her… I would have done anything to rescue her, but I failed,” Hall expressed in an update post.
Even though she had only known Naomi for a brief period, the sweet puppy captured Hall’s heart with her genuine charm.
“Rest peacefully dear, Naomi. You are now free to run and frolic once more. You captured my heart so deeply,” Hall added.
With her cherished memory honored, Hall and her compassionate rescue team at Logan’s Legacy will pursue their vital mission.
Understanding that every abandoned and stray dog deserves a chance, they will strive to provide these animals with at least a glimmer of hope in this life. Just as they did for lovely Naomi.
