Abandoned In The Woods
At only four months of age, Zoomie was abandoned in the woods of Othello, Washington. She relied on water from a nearby stream, and olive trees lining the road provided her refuge. She remained there for a week, hoping someone would come to save her.
One motorist noticed the puppy resting beneath the trees. Each time he passed by, he treated her to burritos.
Before long, he notified Adams County Pet Rescue about the abandoned puppy by the roadside in the woods.
Once Kayya Grant, the director of Adams County Pet Rescue, received the alert, she promptly traveled to the location with one of the rescue staff members.
Grant arrived with a crate. The moment the puppy spotted them, she began barking. Observing her fearful demeanor, she opted to gain the pup’s trust initially before attempting to rescue her.
She wanted to avoid frightening her further by trying to confine her in the crate.
Grant started conversing with the puppy, reassuring her that all would be well. Yet, the pup remained cautious and skeptical of Grant.
Grant went off to purchase some food, and upon her return, she noted that this time, the puppy hardly barked.
Winning Her Trust
She placed some kibble on the ground, and she saw the pup cautiously step toward her. Grant observed her as she neared the kibble and began to eat.
While she munched, Grant gently petted her head. The puppy reciprocated by resting her head in Grant’s hands and gazing at her with a charming expression.
In that instant, Grant realized that the puppy was starting to trust her. Grant left her there for the night and returned the following morning.
When the puppy spotted her, she was ecstatic and could hardly contain her joy. She began to run in circles.
“She got all bouncy and zoomie. That’s the reason we decided to name her Zoomie.”
That day, Zoomie allowed Grant to lift her and place her in the crate. She was eager to go to a secure place.
Zoomie was taken to the rescue where she received medical attention. The rescue team aimed to help her feel at ease, so they introduced her to a calm dog who became her companion.
Zoomie Gets Her Happy Ending
Before long, Zoomie was prepared to search for her forever family.
She didn’t wait long. Her new parents fell for her the instant they laid eyes on her. They completed an adoption application, and Zoomie departed the rescue in her parents’ embrace.
Zoomie is overjoyed with her new existence. She enjoys spending moments with her friends at doggy daycare. When she becomes weary, she delights in the snoozes she shares with her furry sister.
