Comfort is vital. It not only matters for us, but dogs adore it greatly too. There might be nothing more gratifying for them than returning home after a lengthy stroll in the park and resting in their cozy bed.
It’s a universal sensation we all relate to, which is why it’s essential to provide your dog with the comfort they merit.
In this narrative, we will discuss an elderly shelter dog who relishes napping in his bed and particularly treasures a tucking-in ritual.
Preparing for Bedtime
Sandy is a truly remarkable dog. She has spent a considerable amount of time in the Knox County Humane Society, located in Illinois. However, during her initial days there, she was rather discontented.
The shelter staff were eager to assist her with all her needs, but they were uncertain whether it was sufficient. Lou Ann informed The Dodo: Sandy arrived at the shelter back in 2013. She was wandering freely, and no one claimed her.
The elderly dog had experienced several adoptions in the past, and for a period, it seemed like she would finally find her place.
Unfortunately, the pandemic struck, and her caregivers fell ill, prompting them to relinquish her to the shelter where she could receive care.
A Heartwarming Routine
The staff recognized that Sandy was quite forlorn, so to assist her in managing the sorrow, they devised a bedtime routine to uplift her spirits.
Ann mentioned: Since being here, Sandy has embraced the nightly tradition of getting tucked in. She hops up on her chair, and one of our team members will wrap her in.
It has evolved into an almost-nightly occurrence that she eagerly anticipates.
Despite her senior years, her spirited demeanor has endured and she remains a very cheerful dog.
Settling in for night and awaiting her tuck-in has turned into her beloved ritual which guarantees she always enjoys restful nights.
Ann remarked: She is extremely affectionate and gentle. Although we cherish Sandy dearly, our aspiration is for her to find her own forever home where she would receive tucking in every evening.
After spending a year within the shelter, Sandy has ultimately discovered her new family and is now relishing moments in a nurturing home with individuals who adore and care for her.
