At times, the outset is challenging, and we may face obstacles that hinder our happiness and ability to live a regular life. Nonetheless, this does not imply that we should not strive and maintain faith that circumstances will improve.
This is precisely the outcome that happened to Doby, a 1-and-a-half-year-old Jack Russell terrier and whippet-cross. He was diagnosed with failure to thrive shortly after his birth, which raised doubts about his chances of survival.
Thankfully, he succeeded in getting through his toughest periods, and then kind-hearted individuals emerged who resolved to provide him with a more promising future. A compassionate woman from Texas intervened and became his temporary foster mother for a time.
Subsequently, Doby came under the care of B.A.A.R.K. Dog Rescue. They succeeded in finding an experienced foster mother from Crystal Lake, Illinois, Jenny Leech.
At this stage, a new chapter began in the dog’s life, but he still had a considerable journey ahead for a joyful conclusion.
The Joy Of His Foster Family
Upon Doby’s arrival in his new foster environment in Crystal Lake, Illinois, he infused the household with positive vibes. Simultaneously, his foster family embraced him wholeheartedly.
“This cheerful boy is a delightful mix of fun and affection with plenty of snuggles thrown in,” Jenny wrote on her Facebook post. “He likes to sleep all cuddled up next to someone.”
Dobby only flourished in this foster home and revealed his genuine character more each day, which was adorned with the hues of happiness and delight. He had a special fondness for children, and Jenny’s grandchildren instantly adored Doby after their first encounter.
This remarkable dog genuinely adored everyone, so he had no issues with other dogs or animals. In fact, he appreciated their companionship greatly.
“He is excellent with dogs of all sizes, cats and children,” Jenny noted in the post. “He enjoys playing fetch and is lively with other dogs.”
Dobby brought real happiness to his foster family, but Jenny realized that this idyllic scenario could not persist indefinitely. Thus, she exerted every effort to locate a perfect family for Doby that would provide him the affection and care he deserves at any moment.
Little did she know that a particular family had already developed an affection for him after viewing his photos on her Facebook page. Moreover, they had an additional special motivation to provide this dog with a forever home.
Fulfillment Of A Life-Long Dream
Prior to Marcia and Brad discovering Doby on Facebook, they were still mourning their late dog, Opie, who had departed three years prior. They took considerable time to gather the courage to grieve that loss and start anew, but that moment ultimately arrived.
Upon seeing Doby’s image, they were confident he was the one, and a significant occurrence further convinced them.
“His new mom even remarked that Opie sent them a sign on the day I introduced Doby for a home visit,” Jenny shared with The Dodo. “While they were relaxing on the patio, a monarch butterfly landed on their memorial stone dedicated to Opie.”
Marcia and Brad were convinced it was Opie’s message from beyond, affirming that Doby was welcomed in their home. When Doby eventually arrived, he could hardly contain his joy as he realized that his long-held dream had finally been fulfilled.
Today, Doby, now named Floyd, is undeniably the happiest canine in existence, living his dreams in a permanent home. Concurrently, his parents are no longer sorrowful since they understand that the spirit of their cherished Opie continues on in Floyd.
Although the start was tough, everything concluded positively for both the dog and his new family, culminating in yet another heartwarming story with the most joyful ending.
