Mother’s Day 2023 is rapidly approaching, and we at PupVine are eager to create a memorable experience.
Our mothers are dearly cherished, and we wish them all the happiness, not just on Mother’s Day. However, we shouldn’t forget the other remarkable girls in our lives… our dogs.
Some of these pups are mothers, while others are set to embark on that blessed journey soon. But, all of them are beautiful pregnant pooches.
To pay homage to mothers, we have crafted a special feature. Today, you’ll learn about a remarkable expectant dog, Adira… a mom who was in a dire situation but was surprisingly rescued along with her puppies.

Adira’s Enchanted Rescue
When all seems lost, and every glimmer of hope dims, there remains one small flicker of possibility.
Adira held onto her hope. There she was, confined in her cage, longing and trusting that a miracle would arrive, envisioning her rescue.
And, the rescue did arrive! Her savior was named Brie Willis.
As soon as Brie set her eyes on Adira, she realized she needed to act fast. The poor Staffordshire Terrier female was heavily expecting, trapped in a cage far too cramped for her, and filthy.
Such conditions were unfit for a mother, or any dog for that matter!
Willis promptly transported Adira to the veterinarian for an examination. It was revealed that this soon-to-be mother was on the verge of bringing forth a large litter of 10 pups any moment. In other words, Willis arrived just in the nick of time to rescue Adira before it was too late.
Given the appalling conditions in which Adira was discovered, Willis speculated that this wasn’t Adira’s first experience as a mother. She had witnessed numerous cases of overbreeding, and Adira was evidently one of them.
This prompted Willis to take the initiative to do something extraordinary for Adira… to demonstrate that pregnancy can be a delightful journey.
They decided to arrange a maternity photoshoot for Adira to honor her last litter!
The Day Of The Photoshoot
The concept of a maternity photoshoot to celebrate pregnancy has become one of the most endearing trends! Adira was about to join in on the fun too!
“We wished for the world to witness what we perceived in this incredible girl. She had suffered from human failures time and again, and it truly shattered our hearts. Even after enduring so much pain, and being forced to bear multiple litters, we wanted to fête her final litter,” expressed Willis.
Willis enlisted the help of a professional photographer, Lauren Gray, and the photoshoot commenced.
Adira was so thrilled about her special occasion, as if she sensed it was all about her that day.
“She enjoyed numerous treats and ultimately decided to sit still for us to capture some wonderful images. We had originally envisioned the flower crown on her for the entire shoot, but it stayed on for a mere 30 seconds! Therefore, we got a bit inventive, and that’s when we attempted the crown on her belly, which turned out to be my absolute favorite among the series.”
Adira relished her special day. She was treated to many snacks, cuddles, and compliments, enveloped in an outpouring of affection. She’s genuinely a fortunate dog and will undoubtedly be an extraordinary mother!
Update On The Litter
After 28 hours of labor, Adira welcomed not 10, but 12 adorable puppies on Valentine’s Day at Valentine’s Second Chance Animal Shelter. What a delightful coincidence!
The mother and her little furballs were all thriving, preparing for their future adoption.
Before transitioning to their furever homes, Valentine’s Second Chance Animal Shelter organized another photoshoot for Adira and her babies. This initiative aimed to highlight Adira’s story and promote her and her pups for adoption.
Fortunately, nearly half of Adira’s pups secured their furever homes within just a few weeks post-birth.
By mid-April, there were five puppies remaining available for adoption. However, considering how sweet Adira is and how lovable her pups are, the adoption process will soon be concluding.
As of my latest updates, only two puppies remain available for adoption, along with their mother, Adira. Don’t hesitate to check out Valentine’s Second Chance… a rescue organization that performs incredible work in Kansas City.

Bailey desired a straightforward setup. Just a handful of pink roses, a pearl necklace, and a lacey headband were sufficient to enhance her beauty in her maternity photoshoot.
