On a lovely spring day, Rylee Boland and her French bulldog, named Mochi, ventured outside to savor nature in the backyard of their residence in San Diego.
As per usual, her lively puppy was darting around, expressing the vast energy that had accumulated within her during their time indoors.
Unexpectedly, to Boland’s amazement, she simply halted beside a wall and remained motionless, astonished and gazing at something.
A vivid little visitor captured the attention of the little Bullie. It was a monarch butterfly, which proceeded to perch on their backyard wall to bask its wings in the sunlight.
Even though Mochi is usually challenging to manage, in this instance, she was exceedingly tranquil, as if she sensed that any playful antics might scare her visitor away.
“She was incredibly gentle and didn’t wish to harm it,” Boland shared with The Dodo. “She is exceptionally well-behaved and possesses the warmest heart.”
The butterfly sensed it as well, and it was untroubled by Mochi slightly tilting her head towards him. It appeared as if she wanted to greet him, which was utterly charming.
This touching encounter endured for around 15 minutes… a duration during which Boland couldn’t resist capturing a few images and sharing these heartfelt moments with the universe.

The renowned Twitter account, WeRateDogs, took charge of everything with their post featuring Mochi and her butterfly companion.
