When you spot a canine in a rescue, you can only imagine the tales that linger behind those gloomy puppy gazes.
However, Rhoudy’s tale, the three-year-old Terrier mix who was given up, truly stunned everyone!
Upon their first encounter with this sturdy fellow, the compassionate volunteers of Greenville Humane Society in South Carolina believed he was merely an ordinary shelter dog… until they discovered a small note penned by Rhoudy’s former owners.
A tiny scrap of paper bore an innocent, child-like message and a sketch of Rhoudy that left everyone emotional, and here’s why!
“We Understand How Difficult It Was To Part Ways”
Even though his narrative was rather unclear, the note found with Rhoudy’s possessions was certainly one of the hardest letters to convey to his caretakers.
It was evident that Rhoudy had been relinquished to a shelter by his family, but some of his siblings were unable to mask their sorrow. The message expressed:
“We adore you Rhoudy. I will miss you, Rhoudy. But you’re going home! And I hope your new family loves you as much as I do,”.
Following the arrival of this affectionate canine at GHS, the team of volunteers endeavored to uncover his background, but locating his family proved to be futile.
The only option left for this big-hearted team was to respond to the note through their social media (and wish that Rhoudy’s human siblings would see it)!
“We recognize how challenging it was to part ways. But you were incredibly brave and resilient. Sometimes tough choices must be made, but he knows how deeply you care for him,” GHS mentioned in a Facebook post.
The response quickly gained traction, touching the hearts of countless individuals across the nation. GHS sought to comfort everyone by confirming that Rhoudy was now where he needed to be.
“He’s doing remarkably well. He has ventured on numerous walks and has all of the toys you provided in his bed. He’s receiving an abundance of affection. Yes, he longs for you. But he will forever cherish you. Please don’t forget that, alright,” the South Carolina rescue stated.
Rhoudy Seeking A New Home
In spite of his not-so-luxurious beginning, Rhoudy is now in a safe place, thanks to his new companions.
He is far from being just a surrendered shelter canine who occupies his time in a kennel. On the contrary, Rhoudy is able to express himself around his caretakers, yet it’s apparent that he’s in search of a nurturing home.
This lively pup enjoys engaging with fellow dogs. This cheerful canine thrives on being the focus of everyone’s love and attention.
“I’m a bit of a roughhousing type and I adore playing and frolicking with other canines… I’m on the lookout for a family who will provide me with ample love and engagement, and who will keep me active and entertained,” the rescue mentioned on their website.
When the moment is right, Rhoudy dreams of discovering a family for himself – the one that will cherish him just the way he is. And, one thing remains certain – he’s a fantastic, adventurous companion… and absolutely a keeper!
