Mika was an extremely despondent pup who spent a decade of her existence confined in a small, filthy, dark cage, where she was utilized as a breeding dog, forced to deliver numerous puppies without sufficient time for recovery.
One of her greatest aspirations was to escape that cage and enjoy a life as a free dog with a family that genuinely cared for her.
Fortunately, a team of remarkable rescuers heard her pleas and managed to liberate her from that unfortunate condition, finally granting her the affection and attention she had always deserved.
Finally Safe
When the rescuers finally had Mika in their care, they were heartbroken by her condition.
She was entirely coated in her own waste, severely malnourished, and even had a significant and troubling injury on her cheek.
Upon her arrival at the clinic, the entire staff was astonished that someone could neglect a dog to such a degree.
To treat her injury, the veterinary staff first needed to shave off the severely matted and filthy fur that concealed this pup’s true beauty.
After a full hour of grooming, Mika was finally liberated.
However, while they were shaving her, they realized something was amiss. Following some tests, they discovered that Mika was completely blind, a diabetic, and had adenocarcinoma.
They also uncovered that her intestines were obstructed and the wound on her cheek was infected.
Mika stayed at the veterinary clinic for constant monitoring.
Long Road Ahead
When the staff returned the next morning to check on this mama, they observed that the entire area she occupied was soaked in urine because she could not control her bladder.
They promptly placed her on daily insulin injections.
After getting her cleaned up, one of the staff members took her outside for some fresh air and to help her forget the distress.
Mika wandered around the field, inhaling the fragrant flowers and feeling the soft grass beneath her paws.
The subsequent step in her healing journey will involve cosmetic surgery to reconstruct her facial skin.
Fortunately, she was embraced by a nurturing foster family dedicated to ensuring her recovery was as seamless as possible.
Upon arriving at her new home and experiencing the amazing warmth of her humans, Mika’s appetite surged, and she devoured every dish of food presented to her.
Additionally, the medication provided by the doctors to restore her eyesight began to take effect. Mika will regain her vision!
Before long, her vision improved, and she recovered 30% of her eyesight. She also received the most wonderful news – Mika was adopted!
New Life
Mika is finally capable of putting her past behind her and welcoming her bright future.
She became a member of a family that utterly cherished her and everything she did. She was no longer limited to a tiny area but could run freely, play, and enjoy her time as she wished.
With time, Mika underwent a complete transformation! The moments spent with her new family and her canine siblings reminded her that life is beautiful, as her previously frail body now radiated health, adorned with the most exquisite fur.
Tragically, after two years of living her best life, Mika passed away due to diabetes and adenocarcinoma.
Every human who played a role in her journey was utterly devastated. Nonetheless, the fact that they made Mika’s final years joyous made them recognize the significance of their mission.
Welcoming a pup who endured harsh circumstances and offering them genuine love and happiness is among the most rewarding experiences ever. This is why countless humans engage in this noble act every day.
So, if you have never rescued an animal in need, allow Mika’s tale to inspire you – trust me, you won’t regret it.
