Heartbreaking Loyalty: Abandoned Dog Stays at Spot of Last Family Encounter

Written By Ash

There exist two categories of dogs in this world. Those who attempt to move forward after being deserted, and those who refuse to budge.

Some will go to the extent of remaining in one place, awaiting their family’s return, rejecting any form of assistance.

In this narrative, we will discuss a dog who lived with the belief that his family had not forsaken him.

During one of her routine rescue missions in California, animal rescuer, Suzette Hall, encountered a dog who had been lying nearly completely motionless for days close to a construction site.

A well-meaning individual had alerted her about the dog a few days prior and was astonished that she remained there.

When Hall attempted to assist the dog, she perceived that the dog was genuinely terrified, prompting her to be cautious in her approach.

She shared with The Dodo: She was incredibly scared of humans. People would try to sit with her, or walk past her with their own dogs, and she would just bark at them.

Many neighbors were eager to assist in the efforts – some even attempted to coax her in with food, but nothing appeared to succeed.

As part of her last attempt, Hall set a trap for the dog overnight with the intention to check the following morning to see if it was effective.

Something felt different that morning. The dog appeared less frightened when there were fewer individuals in proximity, and Hall recognized this as a promising opportunity.

She verified that her trap was still set and then pretended to depart. Hall recounted: I refreshed the trap and acted as if I was leaving. I drove down the street, and then I noticed her get up and start circling the trap.

She came back a bit later to discover that the dog had indeed fallen for the trap and was now secure. Hall continued, stating: Once I freed her from my trap, she was so terrified.

She was stiff as a pancake. Yet she was incredibly sweet. So I spent considerable time with her just showing her love and petting her.

Hall took the dog to a veterinarian to ensure she was in good health. Subsequently, she was placed in a room where she’d be alone for a time.

They contemplated various names for her, and the most fitting one emerged. She was now named Bella.

She was subsequently taken to foster care in California where she received ample affection and attention from individuals who genuinely cared for her.

Although it remains uncertain whether she was adopted, one thing is evident: Bella is a remarkable dog with an abundance of love to offer and deserves her happy-ever-after.
