Caring for abandoned pets is not a simple endeavor. Nevertheless, there are individuals and organizations that take this responsibility earnestly, and because of them, these four-legged companions are able to find shelter.
One such organization is the Morrisville Borough Police Department located in Pennsylvania.
Upon receiving a report regarding six dogs deserted at a nearby dog park, the department wasted no time and promptly hurried to the location, discovering a heart-wrenching note along with the animals.
The Note Clarified Everything
The authorities encountered a troubling scene at the park.
Six dogs were playing without supervision or any human claiming them. The sole item left behind was a note disclosing the dogs’ tragic predicament.
The note indicated that the dogs had been saved from an elderly lady who could no longer care for them adequately. The woman had too many dogs and insufficient food to sustain them all, which is why she eventually consented to relinquish them.
The note also informed that the brown dogs are a year and a half old, while the fluffy ones are just under a year old.
However, the genuine issue arose when the rescuer was unable to take the dogs to their residence. The regulations of the building forbade pets, leading to all six being abandoned in the park.
“The unidentified individual who brought these dogs to the Morrisville Dog Park tried to keep them, but couldn’t due to their apartment’s restrictions and believed that the Morrisville Dog Park was the safest option for these dogs as per the letter,” MBPD stated in the official announcement.
The person viewed the park as the most secure place to leave the dogs, with the hope that they would find forever homes soon.
Thanks to the Morrisville community, three dogs swiftly found homes with locals, while the remaining three were taken to Bucks County SPCA in Lahaska, Pennsylvania.
The Situation Remains Unresolved
While the police department appreciates the act of rescue, they stressed that this is not the correct way to handle animals in distress.
Abandoning pets in a dog park instead of a shelter is a hazardous method. Hence, they encourage anyone facing a similar dilemma to reach out to their local SPCA or police department.
“Please surrender your pets to shelters and avoid leaving them behind, regardless of the good intentions,” they concluded in the announcement.
Regarding this specific case, the MBPD wishes to connect with the individual who rescued the dogs. At present, they are worried about the other dogs that remain with the original owner.
“Even though the Morrisville Borough Police Department does not support the neglect of any animals, there exists a larger concern in this situation that we wish to address to ensure the safety of all these animals,” the Police Department reported.
Rescuing animals from inadequate living conditions should always be the primary focus, and the compassionate officers from the Morrisville Borough Police Department understand this.
They will persist in their efforts on the case until every dog is entirely safe.
