One aspect that presents a genuine ordeal for any dog seeking a permanent home is facing rejection from others.
What aggravates the situation is that many individuals judge dogs based on their breed, age, or occasionally their disabilities.
It’s not a commendable action, yet it frequently occurs in society, causing numerous dogs to miss out on finding a loving family.
For this adorable canine, he was perpetually branded by others as ‘unattractive,’ but one woman saw just how extraordinary he was, leading to a transformative moment.
Trip’s New Opportunity
When Trip initially encountered his mom, Heather, it was while he was at a shelter and she was engaged in fostering through that rescue organization.
The Norcal Bully Breed Rescue sought someone to foster him and he was fortunate to come across someone remarkable.
It’s not unusual for them to seek assistance in this manner. Numerous breeders in that region of California would heartlessly abandon puppies like Trip, allowing them to be euthanized.
However, he was spared from that fate. Heather shared with GeoBeats Animals: “They were in search of someone to care for this cleft palate pup.”
And so, in a flash, Trip’s life experienced a remarkable transformation within such a brief span. Upon her first taking him in, she realized just how lively and spirited he was.
She further states: “He does possess the triple cleft, meaning he has the bilateral cleft lip, along with the cleft palate.”
In spite of this, her affection for him grew immensely, and they established a connection almost immediately. Shortly thereafter, she opted to adopt Trip as her own pet.
He Is Quite The Goofball
Having spent significant time with her, she was well-acquainted with how to assist him in enjoying a regular existence.
His nutrition was one factor. Due to his cleft palate, he needed to consume specific foods that were easy for him to chew and swallow.
Even though he enjoyed engaging in activities he shouldn’t, he was consistently unique in his manner and never shied away from interacting with his canine siblings.
Heather mentioned: “I believe he realizes he’s unique. Trip’s name is appropriate. He often finds himself in front of you and trips you up.”
The two share a phenomenal bond. On one occasion, when Heather needed to leave for a journey (no pun intended), she entrusted the dog to her daughter.
They attempted to Facetime, but it saddened Heather knowing she couldn’t be with him. He consistently longed for his mom’s return.
His Favorite Human Is Back
Upon her return to California, he was so overjoyed that he couldn’t contain himself and immediately raced to greet her.
Even though his mom was his most cherished person, he also relished playing with his canine siblings, Tilly and Paco.
Heather observed how she often garnered reactions from others whenever they spotted Trip, and those responses were typically varied.
At times, people would describe him as adorable, while on other occasions, they would assert he’s quite unattractive. Hearing this was truly painful for her.
She expressed: “I believe it’s certainly a reflection of an individual and what they might be facing, but whenever possible, my daughter and I take the opportunity to re-educate others and clarify that a deformity, even in a dog, is not something to mock or trivialize.”
In spite of all this, Trip remains an incredibly affectionate dog who cherishes his family and desires to have a typical existence. His mom believes he’s absolutely perfect, and that’s what truly matters.
