There’s something profoundly sorrowful, yet affectionate about saving a stray dog from the streets! Be it their exceptionally challenging life journey or their desire to connect with their saviors, these dogs possess a distinctiveness that is unlike any other!
Abby epitomized this when she was initially discovered in less than ideal conditions! Upon being located by animal control, she was nearly at her end! This unfortunate, gentle girl was severely undernourished, emaciated, and foraging through rubbish to survive.
She appeared to be nearly beyond hope until the compassionate individuals of the Humane Society of Northwest Louisiana, based in Shreveport, Louisiana, chose to step in.
Abby’s Rescuers Were Astonished At Her Condition
Despite Abby’s overall state being quite dire, a glimmer of hope still shone in her eyes! This elderly girl suffered from multiple ailments, including skin infections, ear infections, and an injured back leg.
It was evident that Abby had been without care for an extended time, having no one to tend to her needs.
The team from HSNWLA expressed their astonishment at her condition, pondering how she managed to survive alone for such an extensive duration.
It must have been agonizing for Abby to lack regular meals, not to mention scavenging for food while nursing a broken leg. Thankfully, that chapter was nearing its end, as HSNWLA was eager to assist her and enhance her life!
The Healing Journey Demanded Intensive Care
Considering her state, Abby required substantial care throughout her recovery process. Her new family in Louisiana ensured she received all necessary treatments, which included surgery for her back leg.
The road to recovery was gradual and demanding, but with each passing day, Abby began to feel considerably better!
Sarah Walton, a member of the HSNWLA staff, remarked that Abby was showered with immense love and care during this journey, which is why she evolved into such a delightful and amiable companion around her new owners!
She quickly adjusted, feeling supremely at ease among her new friends. In only a few short weeks, Abby transformed into a near brand new canine!
Today, Abby is entirely unrecognizable compared to her state in September of last year when she first entered the facility! She’s now a spirited ball of fluff and enjoys her new surroundings immensely!
The Senior Princess Is In Search Of A New Home
The encouraging news is that Abby has one last treatment to undergo before she’s finally set to meet her future family!
As per Walton, she’s faring well at this stage, even if she hasn’t yet fully reached her potential… but even in her current state, her heroic rescuers cannot fathom how far this courageous girl has progressed, especially given that she is well into her senior years!
