Indeed, when left to navigate life alone on the streets, that is often the case. The dog’s only chance is a compassionate individual who would locate her and assist her in healing from her injuries.
A canine named Penny found herself in precisely this predicament when she roamed the streets of Las Vegas, Nevada, hoping that someone would rescue her and provide her with a fresh opportunity.

“Her skin is so badly affected, it bleeds. She has hair loss, open sores and crusts, and thick, crusty patches of skin.” they stated.
They also mentioned that this type of condition prevented her from performing her usual everyday activities. “It hurts to stand. It hurts to play. It hurts to do almost anything a dog would do.” they noted.
Yet, in spite of all adversities she endured, Penny still retained her sweetness and affection, leading them to affectionately call her “17 lbs of joy”.
Her caregivers treated her with medicated washes, antibiotics, and special therapies, enabling this courageous girl to slowly improve every day.
Healing With Love
Just six days after her arrival at the shelter, the staff at The Animal Foundation proudly shared a picture in their Facebook post showcasing Penny’s remarkable recovery.
While there were still indications of the nasty illness, Penny’s skin appeared significantly improved following the intensive care administered by the shelter team.
However, this was just the beginning of more wonderful news for this dog. Shortly after her health enhancement, Penny transitioned to a foster home where she was embraced by a caring family.

Penny’s foster father, Jeramy, acknowledged that his family was delighted to offer this dog a temporary home. In his interview for The Animal Foundation, Jeramy shared that he stumbled upon her on the news one day and felt his heart break over her unfortunate state.
Penny’s foster mother, Mary, concurred with him and confirmed that this canine brought immense happiness to their household. She joyfully expressed that their two children had totally fallen for Penny and built a unique bond with her.
