Crunchy was one of those strays requiring urgent help. His coat was severely tangled and his paws were in distress. Despite feeling worn out, his spirit continued to shimmer with the hope that his fortune would shift soon.
Wishing to Receive the Aid He Requires
Crunchy was navigating the streets of St. Louis, experiencing discomfort with every step he took. His coat was so matted that he struggled to see his surroundings.
Fortunately, Stray Rescue of St. Louis rescued him from the streets and brought him in. Upon arrival at the rescue, it quickly became evident that he was a critical case.
The small pup was sedated immediately to alleviate his suffering, while his veterinarian, Ashley, shaved off 10 pounds of his matted coat.
“He was extremely frightened when he first regained consciousness after being sedated, shaved, and cleaned. He would snap and retreat — but he relished being snug in blankets,” explained Natalie Thompson, the rescue’s marketing director.
An Incredible Transformation
His caregivers were astonished by his metamorphosis, and their hearts melted upon seeing Crunchy’s charming eyes that had been hidden beneath all that fur.
The tired pup required an abundance of care and attention to achieve a full recovery. His paws were severely matted, still raw and causing him discomfort.
After his coat was shaved, Crunchy needed some time to adjust to the new sensation. He delighted in wearing a sweater, which provided him comfort.
Crunchy’s caregivers spoke to him in a gentle tone, softly stroking him to reassure him that he was now safe and cherished.
Slowly, the gentle dog began to unwind, and before long, he relished the companionship of his new shelter friends. He was appreciative of all the kindness and affection they generously provided him.
Crunchy released his anxiety and his irresistible character emerged. He transformed into a cuddlebug. The charming pup loved lounging comfortably in the laps of his companions, enjoying countless snuggles.
Since his picture was shared on the rescue’s Facebook page, Crunchy has captured the hearts of many. The shelter staff were confident that he wouldn’t take long to discover his forever home.
Embarking on a New Journey with His Family
As soon as he fully recuperated, his forever family arrived to meet him at the rescue in St. Louis.
From the very first instant they laid eyes on Crunchy, he enchanted them. The small pup was overjoyed when he realized that he was on the brink of starting a new chapter with his family.
His family adores him, and they cannot imagine their lives without him.
