Kiki has always been the most adorable lovebug – she just required a bit of encouragement… and the perfect individuals!

When this Pittie was initially brought home from the shelter, she certainly faced a tough few months. In fact, Kiki was so timid and withdrawn toward everyone that it made it nearly impossible to coexist with her.

Because of her harrowing experiences from the past, she completely lacked trust in humans. However, Stephanie and Nick were determined about one thing – they did not want to surrender!

She Faced Difficulties in Adjusting

Prior to her adoption from Rocket Dog Rescue in California, Kiki was rescued as a stray. She was severely underfed and timid when she initially arrived at the shelter.

Despite spending nine full months in a foster home, Kiki was not fortunate in her search for a permanent family. She was frequently ignored until, one day, Stephanie and Nick discovered her on the rescue’s website.

This couple from the Bay Area, California, instantly fell for her and made the decision to welcome her into their lives permanently.

However, it quickly became clear that having Kiki in their home was not a walk in the park…

The couple experienced a challenging few weeks, as Kiki was profoundly nervous in her new surroundings. She frequently had accidents and would even nip because of her mistrust.

“At the start, she would go from 0 to 100 in an instant, would continually nip at us, struggled during walks, and our anxiety was perpetually at a 9 when we woke each day,” Stephanie states in an Instagram post.

Stephanie and Nick took every possible measure to ensure her transition to the new home was as pleasant as could be. And, after just a few months, they noticed a transformation!

Kiki, The Sweetest, Funniest Princess

It took Kiki precisely three months to truly settle in with her new family. The couple implemented the widely recognized 3-3-3 rule, which proved highly beneficial in her acclimatization.

She began to enjoy walks and plush toys, and she’d become incredibly enthusiastic about mealtime! However, most importantly, Kiki began to interact with others, even their visitors.

“She’s turned into a cuddle bug when we just want to relax on the couch, we can have friends over without fearing she’ll nip at them, and we’re finally starting to feel like a genuine family,” Stephanie shared on Instagram.

She even began to showcase her amusing quirks, such as giving the most amusing side-eye whenever she felt irritated or extending her long, relaxed tongue out whenever she was ready to nap or lounge on the couch.

After the initial three months, Kiki evolved into an affectionate lovebug. Now, she is a spirited girl full of excitement for new experiences.

“The initial few months were DEMANDING, but Kiki has turned into such an incredible good girl and we can’t wait to discover what the upcoming adventures hold for us,” Kiki’s owners expressed in an update post.

She adores her pawrents immensely. Although her mom primarily works from home, she always ensures to stay near her as much as possible. Meanwhile, she eagerly waits by the door for Nick’s return.

Kiki possesses a unique ability to console individuals, too. During challenging times, she perfectly senses her owners’ needs and is consistently there to shower them with love and affection.

Currently, Kiki is far more than just a rescue dog with an unremarkable past. She has become a caregiver, a companion, and a friend!
