Oscar is a two-year-old American Bulldog mix who was deserted by his family when he was merely a puppy. When he was rescued by Miami-Dade Animal Service shelter, his state was dire.
He suffered from a skin infection, heartworms, fractured teeth, and injuries across his body caused by an unsuitable collar. After receiving treatment and care at the shelter, he was prepared to join a new family, yet no one replied to announcements about him.
Then, Humans And Animals United intervened and secured a foster for this pup…
A Shelter Boy From The Very Start
Oscar was under one year old when he was entrusted to a shelter. Miami-Dade Animal Service was all he had known, as he had no other place to call home. His melancholic expression was a common sight, as he didn’t smile or show any signs of joy.
Although the MDAS team provided him with care and affection, Oscar craved a true home.
He Was Severely Wounded
Upon his arrival at the shelter, he bore severe injuries and wounds. After thorough evaluation, Oscar was found to be afflicted with heartworms, skin and ear infections, and numerous broken teeth. In addition, he had scars all over his body from altercations with other dogs.
The cause of his damaged skin was an unsuitable collar. It had become so embedded that it initiated an infection that spread throughout much of his body.
Thankfully, the MDAS personnel acted swiftly and provided Oscar with veterinary care. He recovered gradually, and eventually, he regained his vitality. A few months later, Oscar was prepared to meet a new family.
The MDAS team shared posts about Oscar numerous times, but there was never any response. A year later, the shelter reached its full capacity and was compelled to release Oscar. But soon, another animal service came to the rescue…
Humans And Animals United Came To The Rescue
HAAU, from Florida, came to assist! To prevent Oscar from being homeless once more, Rosa Fond, the organization’s founder, dedicated herself to finding Oscar a new family.
Even though they do not typically house dogs, they managed to connect Oscar with a new foster family. A dog trainer collaborating closely with Humans And Animals United opted to foster Oscar until he secured a permanent spot.
Oscar Receives A Foster For The First Time
Although it was a temporary arrangement, this marked the first occasion that Oscar had a family that truly comprehended and cared for him.
He was overjoyed to finally gain entry into someone’s home, which led to Oscar smiling continuously. Once a somber boy, he transformed into the happiest dog imaginable!
According to Fond, as soon as Oscar was welcomed into his new home, he began to thrive. He was no longer sluggish; instead, he became lively, which illustrates how much he had yearned for companionship.
Oscar’s foster ensured he received proper puppy training and underwent the socialization process.
He’s Awaiting A Forever Home
Oscar and his foster are enjoying a good relationship these days! He has already learned basic obedience and is now a well-behaved boy, eager for family life.
He is still in search of a new family and a lasting home. Fond hopes the pup discovers someone who will appreciate what a wonderful dog he is and assist him in overcoming his past traumas.
“He deserves a loving home. Someone who is going to offer him plenty of affection and support him in overcoming the trauma he has endured. Someone who will provide him with ample love and time to assure him of his safety.”
I genuinely hope he locates his ideal home eventually. No dog should ever be forsaken and endure what Oscar experienced. Until he finds his permanent home, he will continue refining his family skills with his foster, savoring the best life.
