Before Roo was initially discovered by her incredible saviors, her existence as a homeless dog was remarkably challenging and taxing.
She would battle from one day to the next, never anticipating what was to come, and resting anywhere caused her to develop severe skin issues.
Roo eventually suffered from mange, resulting in her coat becoming scabby. She had little she could do about it without assistance, yet she continued to endure.
Out of the blue, her fortune shifted when she spotted some rescuers from North Carolina halting to take her to a shelter where she would be secured.
Roo’s New Temporary Caregiver
When Veronica learned about Roo’s tale, she immediately believed it would be beneficial to foster this darling pittie, so she visited the shelter in North Carolina and chose to welcome her.
Her new foster parent quickly observed something peculiar about her. She would frequently shimmy on the ground, which was not typical for any dog in general.
Veronica shared with The Dodo: “She was indeed quite timid and bashful at first. She hesitated with making eye contact, but you could clearly see that she was inquisitive and desired affection.”
To assist Roo in adjusting to a typical lifestyle, she aimed to gradually incorporate her into being with her foster family.
She introduced her to the other dog, Riot, while he was in his kennel. Their interaction was limited since Veronica aimed to avoid causing Roo any distress.
One aspect she also observed was that this gentle pittie was thrilled to meet Riot; her tail wagged continuously, which was an encouraging indication.
In the following days, she permitted them to gradually start frolicking in the yard under her supervision. Although there wasn’t an immediate response, Veronica felt content that Roo was advancing.
She stated: “She had mange, and it had progressed to a stage where her skin was significantly scabby. She was also quite underweight.”
Due to this, Veronica had to provide her with medicated baths every few days, and her nutrition also required enhancement so she could gain some weight.
Roo Has Transformed Completely
After a handful of weeks, significant and apparent improvement was evident. Roo was evolving positively at a swift pace, and her foster parent felt immense joy for her.
Roo also sought plenty of pets and snuggles from Veronica, signaling that she had developed strong affection for her.
It was a bonus that this charming pittie was forming a bond with Riot, and they now engage in playtime much more frequently.
Riot would guide Roo in learning how to act like a dog since she remained a bit timid and reserved. They became wonderful companions.
As she adores bouncing around like a kangaroo and producing sounds reminiscent of a rooster, Veronica recognized why her name suits her so well.
She is incredibly sweet, and all she required was some time to acclimate to her new existence. Now that she has improved significantly, it was time to place her on an adoption list.
Veronica mentioned: “A few days ago, she found her forever home. They cherish her and are a perfect match for her.”
Although she feels sad about not seeing Roo again, she is also exceptionally delighted to know that she has discovered such a wonderful family that will always care for her.
