He possessed one of the most genuine smiles I’ve ever witnessed. His entire face beamed… no joke!
The glowing smile transformed this Pitbull into an absolute sweetheart. He wasn’t intimidating at all, regardless of what some individuals may presume about Pitbulls.
Leroy, the forsaken Pittie, was abandoned in a cement pit with no means of escape. He was confined. His optimism was gradually dwindling. His spirit was shattering into fragments.
Why did my humans abandon me? Did I deserve this?
As Leroy pondered his fate and the events that led him to that pit, he failed to notice assistance approaching.
Upon lifting his head, Leroy spotted an angel: his rescuer.
A Cement Pit Is No Place For A Dog
Picture yourself leisurely wandering through the neighborhood, capturing moments as you usually do, when you suddenly notice something unusual for your photoshoot.
Is that… a dog? In that dreadful cement pit? Oh, my goodness!
A local photographer stumbled upon Leroy by chance. He did not anticipate encountering a living being in that area of Fresno, California, much less a dog.
Once he made eye contact with Leroy, the photographer captured a few images and contacted Compassion Without Borders. That pup needed to be saved without delay!
Leroy didn’t linger there for long. Only God knows how long he had been confined in that pit. The CWB volunteers quickly leaped into the hole and lifted Leroy out, rescuing him from his suffering and proving to him that not everything was lost.
Leroy was no longer confined. Leroy was liberated.
He expressed his gratitude with the widest smile, and that marked the moment he began to smile once more. Leroy has not stopped grinning ever since.
Moreover, he was the most delightful boy ever, in spite of the circumstances he was rescued from. He had not lost his trust in humanity.
Christi Camblor, the director and founder of CWB, was present when Leroy came to their shelter, completely exhausted, partially sightless, with significant skin issues, and diagnosed with arthritis.
Camblor promptly attended to Leroy and committed to being his caregiver as long as he remained there.
“It was love at first sight!” Camblor stated. “I had a feeling we would not be able to separate from him.”
And, that instinct was correct. Not only did she pledge to be there for Leroy during his stay at the shelter, but Camblor also promised to stand by him for life.
Approximately a month later, she and her husband officially adopted Leroy.
“He is goofy, playful, affectionate, and very interactive,” Camblor remarked. “He adores playing with toys, engaging with his canine siblings, napping, and lounging in the backyard under the sun.”, shared Christi.
And, if you were curious whether Leroy continues to sport that massive grin, he absolutely does. Leroy still beams like he did on the day of his rescue.
Why shouldn’t he? He enjoys a fantastic life with the Camblors, finally being cared for the way he always deserved.
Leroy is just one lost Pitbull found in Fresno. Imagine how many others remain out on the streets! Over a million Pitbulls are euthanized annually in the States. Don’t let that stray you just noticed become another statistic!
