When a compassionate passerby discovered a frightened puppy tucked away behind a dumpster in an alley in St. Louis, Missouri, they contacted Stray Rescue of St. Louis, requesting their assistance.

Donna Lochmann and her team promptly proceeded to the location.

Upon their arrival, they noticed the dog, later nicknamed Joan of Bark, as she attempted to conceal herself from her surroundings. She remained silent and appeared to have accepted her predicament.

The instant Joan of Bark heard Lochmann’s voice, she turned her eyes towards her. Her beautiful gaze revealed her deep sadness and immense trepidation.

Rescuing Her From Danger

Lochmann sat beside Joan of Bark and offered her some Vienna sausages.

Even though she was still uncertain about her surroundings, the starving dog eagerly devoured the tasty meal.

After spending some time with Joan of Bark, her rescuer gently placed a leash around the puppy’s neck.

Noticing the apprehensive canine hesitating to accompany her, Lochmann allowed her some space. When the little dog finally stood up, her handlers understood the reason behind her intense fear.

Sadly, one of her hind legs was fractured. The rescue team felt sorrowful for the pup, suspecting that she had been struck by a vehicle.

Once the kind-hearted individuals coaxed Joan of Bark into a crate, the rescuers comforted her, assuring that she was now secure.

“She’s frightened and in pain, but who wouldn’t be in her situation. It’s alright sweetheart, you are safe now! We’ve got you,” Stray Rescue of St. Louis announced in a Facebook post.

They hurried her to the clinic, where the veterinarian examined her and conducted an X-ray of her injured leg.

The compassionate veterinary staff gave Joan of Bark a relaxing bath, which she thoroughly enjoyed. She gazed at her caregivers with her eyes filled with appreciation.

Although the veterinary team endeavored to salvage the dog’s limb, unfortunately, it had to be amputated due to the fact that it had been fractured for an extended period.

After a successful procedure, the courageous dog commenced her journey to healing.

Receiving An Abundance of Affection

Once she recuperated, Joan of Bark transitioned to a shelter.

The little dog felt relieved as she no longer experienced any discomfort. Her rescuers lavished her with affection, ensuring she felt safe and cherished.

Joan of Bark enjoyed every instant she spent with her saviors. She appreciated snuggling with them.

Their affection instilled hope within her that someday she would discover her own humans who would love her unconditionally.

Despite being a tripod, the dog enjoyed her existence. She relished doing zoomies in the yard.

The St. Louis rescue placed Joan of Bark in an amazing foster home. Though she was shy initially, the dog soon acclimated.

Joan of Bark was treated warmly by her foster family. She felt joyful knowing she had the chance to experience the love and comfort of a home.

The little pup became friends with her furry foster sister and enjoyed spending time with her.

Eager to finally have her own home, Joan of Bark began searching for her forever family.

It remains uncertain whether her greatest desire has been fulfilled, but I am confident that this adorable pup will soon have the opportunity to experience the unconditional love that can only come from devoted parents.
