Just a little bit of love can transform someone’s existence, and Kacey would surely concur!
This small, fatigued Chi female residing in a parking lot in Los Angeles, California, was far from thriving. Her life had been precarious ever since her previous owners abandoned her. To make matters worse, Kacey had been struck by a vehicle.
For over a month, she was nearly impossible to catch due to her overwhelming fear of people. Despite her dire situation, she consistently found ways to evade assistance from the locals until one day, her destiny took a surprising turn.
Fearful And Overwhelmed
Lisa Chiarelli, from Frankie Lola and Friends, a canine rescue organization in Los Angeles, California, received a call about Kacey and promptly sprang into action. However, finding shelter for this precious girl was no easy task, as she repeatedly rejected assistance.
Kacey resided in the parking lot of a nearby mechanic shop. She was profoundly fatigued, had a dislocated hip, fleas infesting her, and she was clearly undernourished.
Lisa and her team made multiple attempts to engage with Kacey for nearly a month until one day, she finally entered a humane trap.
The instant she entered, her apprehensions surged, and she began to tremble. Kacey was profoundly traumatized and fearful of every interaction, yet she was simply too exhausted and overwhelmed to respond.
“She was so deeply defeated. She was too worn out to be reactive, too fatigued to bite, too tired to flee. She was just frightened,” Lisa informed The Dodo.
Upon finally reaching her new, temporary abode, she began to unwind. Lisa provided her with a cozy dog bed, but instead, Kacey opted for a pink blanket that was on the floor – and quickly drifted off to sleep.
“She’s completely weary from months living on the streets. Stray dogs are perpetually on high alert and in self-defensive mode and can never sink into that deep sleep. Last night, she enjoyed the best night of sleep in her life and is now snoozing the day away,” Lisa posted on Instagram.
During her vet visit, she was diagnosed with a dislocated hip, necessitating FHO surgery. Nevertheless, Kacey remained too frail and undernourished for any treatment. Prior to the procedure, she was placed in a foster home for additional recovery.
A Foster Failure
Lianne and her large family welcomed Kacey into their affectionate home with open arms! Already having several other dogs, the presence of so many companions helped Kacey feel better almost immediately.
Despite her mobility challenges, Kacey blossomed into another dog within just a few days. Her new siblings showed her how to embrace being a dog, and she finally came out of her shell.
Being the sensitive dog that she is, Kacey sought affection at all times. She has the cutest habit of tapping the person she desires affection from and then presenting them with the most enchantingly beautiful smile.
Eventually, Kacey underwent her surgery and received the care she had desperately needed. With her hips healed, she could finally keep pace with the other dogs and enjoy playtime without any restrictions.
It is safe to say that Kacey seamlessly integrated into her new family, which is why Lianne decided to adopt her – permanently!
“Another remarkable foster failure. I definitely wasn’t surprised by this one,” Lisa shared on Instagram.
After all the effort and the countless wonderful moments created during Kacey’s healing journey, the family simply could not bear to part with her.
“What a tiny little strong, powerful soul she is. I’m so glad we rescued Kacey from the parking lot that day. Life can change in an instant,” Lisa reflected in another Instagram post.
Once a forsaken, terrified girl who didn’t stand a chance on her own, Kacey is now the princess of her new residence. And, her family fully approves of her royal status!
