He Endured Much At A Young Age
Upon his birth, Knox found himself in a household that, despite their kind intentions, could scarcely sustain themselves.
Food was scarce, and his already frail mother grew even thinner as she took on the responsibility of nurturing her hungry offspring.
A tiny, fragile baby with a weak immune system struggled to endure the poor conditions and the lack of sustenance required for healthy growth. This unfortunate situation led to the puppy developing Demodex mange. Unfortunately, that was merely the beginning.
His family eventually came to the realization that they could not care for him or his siblings, and they made the decision to surrender the entire family to a rescue. That’s when Happy Feet Pet Rescue, located in Lansing, Michigan, intervened.
The rescue team members, along with his new foster mother, did everything within their capacity to assist this poor little one.
Knox received treatment for his mange, as well as for the fleas infesting his small body. However, when they believed the situation had improved, they discovered that this dog literally had a broken heart.

Following further assessments, the veterinary team found that this unfortunate dog was afflicted with several heart issues. Knox was dealing with a significant heart murmur, an enlarged heart, patent ductus arteriosus (PDA), and a leaking mitral valve.
They felt devastated upon hearing this information because the seriousness of these conditions led them to believe that Knox might not be destined for a complete and joyous life after all.
Nonetheless, hope resurfaced when they met Dr. Christian Weder at Mid-Michigan Veterinary Cardiology. Dr. Weder performed an echocardiogram and delivered the most wonderful news! Knox’s large heart could be repaired!
They were referred to the Animal Surgical Center of Michigan, where they managed to arrange for Knox to undergo this crucial surgery within a few days.
They were overjoyed that this dog would get another opportunity, but the struggle was yet not over. The surgery was estimated to cost $3,800, and the rescue simply did not possess that amount at that time.
This prompted them to seek assistance on their official Facebook page from all the kind-hearted individuals willing to contribute a bit to make something significant occur.
This initiative demonstrated that kind souls still exist, as a substantial amount of funds were raised in a remarkably short span of time.

Now, He Is Simply Awaiting His True Happy Conclusion
Fewer than seven days after initiating the fundraising for the surgery, Happy Feet Pet Rescue shared the joyous news on their Facebook page.
Knox joyfully returned to his foster home in Lansing, proudly displaying a remarkable scar. This boy has been through so much, emerging from this battle with a scar that he will cherish for his entire life.
After a month of successful recovery from the surgery, his final challenge could at last commence. Knox was all set for adoption and a fresh chapter in his story.
