Occasionally, the most challenging phases in life emerge as the inception of something extraordinarily beautiful. This is precisely what transpired for Bobby Humphrey, the bodybuilder from Boonsboro, Maryland, who previously was everything except a “tiny dog enthusiast.”
Like anyone else, Bobby held numerous preconceptions regarding various dog breeds. After all the ridicule and jokes about small dogs, Bobby would ultimately find out that those same diminutive pups were destined to be a part of his life.

Bobby Humphrey Was Just A “Large Dog Enthusiast” Back In The Day
At that time, Bobby was merely an average individual from Boonsboro, Maryland, who spent his days training, installing hardwood floors, and enjoying time with his spouse. Being a sizable figure himself and rather competitive, he carried many stereotypes about small dogs.
He and his wife proudly owned three Rottweilers, which represented the “epitome of masculinity” to him. Never did he expect to possess one of those petite breeds, like a Chihuahua, as he felt the need to assert that he was the “toughest” among his peers.
However, everything shifted when his spouse departed on New Year’s Eve in 2016. He was profoundly heartbroken over the separation, and on top of that, he sustained a shoulder injury at the gym, catalyzing intense depression.
Lady Altered His Life Indefinitely
He endured feelings of sadness for an extended duration. His outings decreased significantly, and he became less social. Previously, Constance Rogers was among the few individuals he would spend time with.
Connie was committed to assisting her friend during tough times, and even in his darkest hours, she remained by his side. She constantly urged Bobby to move forward with his life, but her efforts yielded little success.
One day, without realizing it would serve as a pivotal moment in Bobby’s life, she inquired if he could care for her Chihuahua, Lady, for a few days.
This request was unusual for Bobby, as he couldn’t bear the thought of incorporating a small dog into his life. Nonetheless, he chose to assist his friend, feeling indebted to her for all she had done for him.
“I never envisioned having a little dog,” stated Bobby.
Lady had a reputation for being a fierce dog. She wasn’t sociable with strangers, which is why neither Connie nor Bobby anticipated her forming a connection with him. But, once Lady entered Bobby’s life – everything transformed!
She became incredibly attached to him, curling up in his lap whenever she could. Not only did her aggressiveness vanish – she truly became the most amicable little Chihuahua in the universe, all due to Bobby!
What Came After Lady?
Lady became profoundly significant to him. She was the primary motivation for him to rise every morning. They would play, spend time together, embrace, and in a way, comprehend each other, which made him aware that the day of parting with her would be quite challenging!
Lady enabled him to conquer his ingrained stereotypes about small dogs. Therefore, he resolved to search for a forever Chihuahua companion!
Kira, Harley, Quinn, And The List Continues…
Kira was one year old when he brought her into his life. She exhibited considerable food aggression and was not very accustomed to social environments. Bobby invested his time and effort into acclimating her to a new environment, and the dog blossomed into a charming pet in no time!
She was tender, affectionate, and adoring, always eager to snuggle with her new companion. However, Bobby sought even more!
He aspired to nurture a Chihuahua from its infancy, and to gain that experience, he required a new addition. That’s when Harley and Quinn, Chihuahua siblings, entered his life!
These two Chihuahuas appeared quite frail due to inbreeding when he first encountered them. Offering them a home felt instinctual, leading Bobby to decide against separating them. Both Harley and Quinn strolled into Bobby’s home, and until now, they have never departed!
That was the moment he realized – fostering less fortunate small dogs is what he genuinely enjoyed! Thus, he made it his mission. He even established a sanctuary named Big Guy Littles World to assist tiny dogs that lack proper care.
“The love these dogs provide me, especially considering their challenging pasts, made me feel – now I’m accountable for them.”
Now, Bobby shares his home with 37 small dogs, and he has no intentions of halting. As long as he possesses the energy, strength, and means, he will rescue abused, neglected, and abandoned Chihuahuas and enhance their lives!
