Everyone knows that German Shepherds are intelligent canines capable of handling numerous tasks, but have you heard of Finn, the GSD magician?
The retired GSD K9, Finn, along with his handler, former police officer Dave, opted to return to the stage of Britain’s Got Talent once more. This proved to be a fantastic choice, as Finn had some fresh tricks up his sleeves this time!
The Tale of Finn, the Retired K9
Finn served as an active police canine until 2016, when he was stabbed and critically injured while pursuing a thief in Stevenage.
He sustained multiple stab wounds to the head and chest while attempting to thwart the escape of the criminal. His handler, Dave, also suffered injuries.
From that day forward, Finn retired from his law enforcement duties, but he never ceased to be inquisitive, obedient, and an exceptionally good boy.
His enthusiasm for mental challenges and impressive trainability led him to perform on the stage of Britain’s Got Talent in 2019, where he and his police handler, Dave, captivated the judges with astonishing magic tricks.
The Card Trick
The initial trick that he executed was a card trick. Dave invited the judge, David, to select any card from the deck and conceal it with his hand. It turned out to be the seven of spades. However, here’s where it gets interesting!
Just before the act, Finn had already predicted that David would select that specific card, so when Dave instructed him to indicate one card from the deck he had spread on the backstage floor – he chose the seven of spades!
Indeed, this was a “simple magic trick,” but judging by the reactions of the judges, you could tell that he struck a chord at that moment!
Finn Is A Genuine Mind Reader
During the subsequent segment of their act, Dave requested Alisha to select a random photo from his scrapbook. The scrapbook contained images of him and Finn enjoying delightful moments at various locations. Alisha selected the photograph of Dave and Finn having a blast at the beach.
Meanwhile, Amanda was responsible for selecting a handful of Finn’s cherished treats from the box. Each biscuit had a distinct word inscribed on it. Alisha chose the one marked incredible.
The Unexpected Twist
Not only did Finn guess correctly, but he and Dave were already aware of the outcome beforehand! Throughout the entire act, there was Finn’s ball placed in front of Simon containing the answer written inside! Here is what Finn’s note from within the ball read:
“My best friend, Dave, is uncertain of what the upcoming months shall bring, but I am aware. You see, I knew all along.
Tonight, I was even aware that Alisha would select a picture of our beloved spot… the beach visit, while Amanda would pick the word ‘incredible’ to best illustrate our journey throughout our BGT experiences.”
It goes without saying, this unexpected twist garnered a standing ovation from both the judges and the audience. This marked one of Finn’s most remarkable performances to date, and indeed, there was a reason for it!
