Tommy, A K9 German Shepherd, Was Euthanized After 7 Years of Service
After seven years of being a trustworthy work companion for his handler, Jeremy Berger, an officer from the Department of National Resources, the German Shepherd, Tommy, bid his final farewell.
Regrettably, this K9 was suffering from a severe type of cancer that could not be treated. As he endured immense pain and was unable to carry out even simple canine tasks – Jeremy opted for euthanasia.
His exceptional contributions and years of dedication, however, were acknowledged. Law enforcement agencies from across Ohio, accompanied by their K9s, chose to pay tribute to Tommy one last time.
They gathered in front of Blanchard Valley Veterinary Clinic to honor this remarkable K9. This proved to be an extremely emotional moment for everyone, particularly for Jeremy and his family. Following euthanasia, Tommy was transported to the car on a stretcher adorned with a flag.
Officers and their dogs remained still, honoring their colleague with a moment of silence.
Jeremy And His Family Experienced Heartbreak
Jeremy and his family were the last to bid farewell to Tommy. They were all heartbroken to see him for the final time.
During their goodbye, the final dispatch echoed over the radio.
“You were a loyal partner to 3280, Officer Tommy. Thank you for being a good boy and for protecting your partner and the citizens of Ohio. Your watch has concluded. Rest peacefully. You may be gone, but you will never be forgotten.”
