Emotional Reunion: Dog’s Heartwarming Response to Owner After Long Separation

Written By Ash

Goose is a purebred Blue Tick Hound known for his striking appearance and an even more remarkable bark that echoes the sound of a howl.

The director of Adopt-An-ANGEL Animal Shelter situated in Wilmington, North Carolina, Jill Jones, mentioned that Goose’s barks, or more accurately, his exceptional honking sounds, frequently reflect his emotions.

“He yells when he feels nervous and deserted. When he’s silent, it signifies he’s content.

However, that isn’t the only exceptional aspect of Goose. Unfortunately, he has weathered many tumultuous moments in his life, rendering him homeless on three different occasions.

Goose Found Shelter At A Refuge On Three Separate Occasions

Goose initially arrived at the North Carolina shelter as an injured young pup.

Sadly, during mealtime, his own mother bit off his ear when he was still a tiny pup. This rather unusual incident granted him a distinctive look.

In his adoption advertisement, the shelter addressed the story behind his look, stating, “So, I have a truly unique appearance, wouldn’t you agree?”

Ultimately, Goose was adopted by a family as a young pup; however, things did not unfold as anticipated.

Regrettably, the family that took Goose in as a pup had to relinquish him following the birth of their baby.

This was heart-wrenching for both Goose and the family. They cherished him deeply, but as Goose matured, he began to have some conflicts with the other dog.

Their newborn had a rare skin condition, and they couldn’t risk Goose injuring it, even by chance since it could be life-threatening.

“I was cherished, and my family was heartbroken to part with me,” the shelter recounted.

Consequently, once again, Goose found himself back at the shelter – this time as a 1 and ½ year-old dog.

At this point, the shelter realized how Goose howls and cries after being abandoned by those he cared for.

“He’s got a hound bark that could genuinely win competitions,” expressed Jones, the director of the shelter.

Shortly after, Goose was adopted for the second time, yet unfortunately, fortune was still not on his side.

The young couple that adopted Goose eventually divorced, and Goose was once again returned to the shelter.

It emerged that following their split, one of Goose’s guardians returned him to the shelter without informing the other.

“His father relocated to Florida and was unaware that Goose was here with us in North Carolina,” Jones disclosed to The Dodo. “We were also unaware that he was out there.”

This time, Goose’s cries were even more intense, and who could fault him after being abandoned for the third time?

This unfortunate creature had experienced so much in his brief life.

Upon witnessing Goose’s distress following yet another abandonment, the shelter staff realized they needed to intervene to aid this unfortunate dog.

Thus, they resolved to showcase Goose at the forthcoming adoption event.

In a stroke of luck, one of Goose’s father’s closest friends attended the adoption fair and instantly recognized Goose.

Upon realizing the dog was truly Goose, he sent a picture to his best friend (Goose’s dad) who was astounded to find that his dog had returned to the shelter.

Goose’s father was determined to rescue him from the shelter.

Within four days post this incident, Goose’s father journeyed all the way from Florida to North Carolina to retrieve his lost dog.

Their reunion is bound to bring tears to your eyes.

The shelter shared the video of their heartfelt reunion stating, “Here, you see Goose, calm and silent as he embraces his Dad! Goose, speechless without his anxious howls. Have your tissues ready!”

Goose no longer has a reason to cry and has been happier than ever in his new abode.

Goose’s grandfather volunteered to permanently adopt him, as Goose’s dad couldn’t welcome him back himself.

As per Jones, he has been spending his days running around the yard and frolicking with his canine cousins.
