Cartier, the dog, was a joyful girl who enjoyed a cheerful and peaceful existence in her residence.
Her days were spent indulging in snug naps, engaging in brief playdates, and discovering various methods to please her owners. During that time, she believed nothing could separate her from her beloved humans.
Regrettably, one day, her world was turned upside down.
After determining they lacked the time and energy for her, her family made the decision to relinquish her to a shelter in New York City. This left the poor pup bewildered and heartbroken. She pondered endlessly what she had done wrong to deserve this fate.

One Day At A Time
Before abandoning her, Cartier’s previous family confined her in a crate to keep her out of their way. The absence of space and movement, along with love and kindness, made this poor dog extremely anxious.
In an effort to assist her in coping with her issues to the best of their ability, Rebound Hounds, a rescue and rehabilitation facility situated in New York City, took her in and assigned her to a caring foster family who understood her challenges.
The affectionate Katy Brink, together with her spouse Collin, comprehended precisely what Cartier was experiencing. Since Katy herself faced anxiety, she never imagined she would meet someone who genuinely understood her until she found her husband.
Recognizing how much that assistance meant to her, the couple realized they needed to extend a similar understanding to this sweet pup.
As Katy and Collin already had two dogs, they were unable to provide Cartier the tranquil and serene environment she required. She had already attempted to maintain her composure around other dogs on the street, so living with two just wasn’t feasible.
For over a year, Cartier has been in search of a loving forever home, but her luck has simply run out.
“Cardi would thrive in a peaceful home with someone who desires to share their routines and strolls with her and simply allow her to relax in their proximity. She doesn’t suffer from separation anxiety, but she will truly flourish as the only dog in the household, where she can completely unwind and wander freely. At home, she’s a laid-back adult dog who loves to just hang out with her humans,” Katy relayed to The Dodo.
Is Anyone Searching for a Pup?
Although she isn’t a demanding pup like others, she still requires some additional affection and attention. Cartier has been an excellent girl at her foster home, putting forth great effort to overcome her anxiety. And, she will undoubtedly continue her progress with her forever family as well.
“She isn’t loud or aggressive around unfamiliar dogs or individuals, but she is extremely alert and may tug and struggle to concentrate on taking treats from her person when a trigger is nearby. She’s diligently working to conquer her anxiety in new settings, and that makes her even more sensitive and special!” she concluded.

She is also exceptionally intelligent, amusing, and deeply compassionate. She experiences bursts of energy when she’s in the kitchen and thoroughly enjoys playing with her toys while sprawled on her back. Cartier absolutely loves being surrounded by her humans, and being a couch potato is in her essence!
“The dogs that nobody seems to want are the dogs that bring the most happiness,” Katy remarked.
