When Peanut Butter and Jelly were rescued from the streets and taken to Sonoma County Animal Services, located in California, they gained a great deal of interest.
Upon their arrival at the shelter, the personnel observed something glimmering on their foreheads.
When the shelter staff approached the dogs, they experienced both surprise and bewilderment upon realizing that the canines had adornments affixed to their foreheads.
Even though many staff members had been working in animal care for years, they had never encountered anything like this.
The Charming Duo Finds A Home
Peanut Butter is a mix between a Beagle and a Pug, while Jelly is a female Chihuahua mix. Upon their arrival at the shelter, the veterinary team deemed it necessary to remove the gems and adhesive. They aimed to ensure that the glue did not include any toxic elements.
Once the glue was taken off, it was confirmed that it had not harmed the dogs’ health. However, Peanut Butter and Jelly did suffer from secondary burns, leaving them with scars on their foreheads.
Aside from that, the dogs were in good condition, and they were enthusiastic about finding their permanent family and beginning a new chapter.
The pups were overjoyed when a lovely family came forward, providing them with a fantastic home. Their family adored and cared for them. Unfortunately, after their owner passed away, the pups were left without anyone to look after them.
Back At The Shelter
They were returned to Sonoma County Animal Services.
As Peanut Butter and Jelly had aged into seniors, they were moved to Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, a charitable organization situated in San Francisco that assists dogs older than 7 in securing their forever homes.
Their foster mother, Lisa Arden, took excellent care of them. She snuggled with them and showered them with affection.
“They are incredibly sweet and amiable dogs, fantastic with people, and get along well with other canines. They continue to thrive in foster care, revealing both of their playful personalities. They remain quite active and enjoy running around and playing. Truly, they are the most delightful dogs,” Arden shared with The Dodo.
Even though both dogs possessed vibrant personalities, Arden stated that Jelly was the one in charge of Peanut Butter, often directing him.
A Permanent Home
After undergoing three months in foster care without receiving any adoption inquiries, their foster mother created a TikTok video featuring the two dogs. She presented them to her audience, aiming to broaden their adoption opportunities.
The video became an internet sensation. The adorable pups and their captivating personalities captured the affections of many online viewers.
On October 26th of 2023, Arden announced exciting news on her Instagram. Peanut Butter and Jelly participated in a virtual meet and greet with their new father, and they had a fantastic experience.
Arden expressed her confidence that the pups had found the ideal home. They are eager for the adoption process to be completed, so they can begin a new journey with their new father.
We are delighted that the lovely dogs found their forever home, and we wish them countless adventures alongside their new father.
