Numerous dogs endure distressing circumstances without any wrongdoing on their part. Existence on the streets, combined with frigid conditions, insufficient shelter, and scarcity of food, takes its toll, leaving these four-legged beings in anguish.
One such narrative hails from Virginia, where a dog was discovered in such dreadful condition that rescuers mistook her for a different breed.
She resigned herself to the humans who promptly initiated the healing journey, and before long, the dog, subsequently dubbed Glowup, astonished everyone!
A Challenging Beginning in Life
Animal control in Petersburg, Virginia, rescued Glowup and swiftly shifted her to Richmond Animal League, who embraced her without hesitation.
Upon her initial arrival at the establishment, she was in exceptionally poor shape. Her skin was inflamed owing to a severe instance of demodectic mange, which led the staff to initially assume her breed was a Shar Pei.
“When this adorable girl arrived, her skin was plagued by a severe case of Demodex. She had lost fur, was dotted with scabs, and her skin felt thick,” RAL shared on Facebook.
Regardless of the circumstances, her caretakers dedicated themselves tirelessly to help this poor pup heal. She received medication and therapeutic baths regularly, but what Glowup cherished the most from her rescuers was abundant love.
Consistent affection, coupled with medical care, encouraged her to emerge from her shell and embark on a remarkable transformation. Everyone at the rescue quickly became enamored with this incredible girl’s character.

In just a few short weeks, Glowup was advancing towards a complete recovery. Her skin wounds began to heal, and after a prolonged period, she was finally on solid ground.
Mystery Unveiled
Glowup’s healing also unraveled another enigma – her actual breed!
Rather than the initial inference that she was a Shar Pei due to her state, the shelter personnel ultimately discovered her true nature. She was an adorable Pitbull mix boasting such a wonderful personality.
In their Facebook announcement, the Richmond Animal League team shared her ‘before and after pictures,’ illustrating how much Glowup actually transformed during her recovery journey.
“We commenced a treatment plan including medicated baths to assist her skin, and the outcomes are evident. We believe Ms. Glowup deserves to feature in advertisements for the shampoo; just look at her stunning before and after images,” the RAL team commented.
She flourished into a brand-new pup, ecstatic to finally be enveloped by those who cherished her. Although her complete history remains unclear, it is safe to assert that Glowup will never confront uncertainty again.
