Though it may initially come across as peculiar, sometimes we can glean this best from animals, themselves. Numerous instances of authentic camaraderie exist among them, particularly evident with our beloved canine companions.
Nonetheless, the truth is that these kind-hearted creatures never confine themselves and do not scrutinize who is who when selecting companions. This is the most splendid truth, and today’s narrative serves as a testament to a friendship that persevered even after its saddest episode.
Unique Friendship
Joanna Cox had always adored animals, especially canines. It’s no surprise that she possesses three lovely dogs, and showering them with affection poses no challenge for her.
However, she still has ample love for another full-fledged member of this large, joyful household – the adorable little hamster, Barry. Although Barry can be seen as an intruder in this setup, Joanna and her dogs embraced him wholeheartedly and expressed sincere affection for him from day one.
Winny, Bobby, and Autumn relished the moments spent together with him and always enjoyed playing alongside him. Yet, it was Cockapoo Bobby who distinguished himself the most by subsequently becoming Barry’s closest companion.
“Bob has always adored Barry and would sit and observe him play on his wheel for hours,” Joanna conveyed to Newsweek. “It took roughly a month to get Barry out, and that’s when I discovered that Bobby was gentle around him. From that day on, they became inseparable.”
Bobby’s favorite pastime involved Barry walking all over him, and he never hesitated to share treats with him either; in fact, he relished doing so. This exemplifies the profound bond these two shared.
Regrettably, just when they believed their joy would never fade, Barry became ill, leading Bobby to experience the most sorrowful moment of his existence.
His Most Challenging Moment
Courageous Barry battled with his ailment for a prolonged time, with his best dog friend and mother Joanna being his most significant sources of support.
Sadly, he did not survive, and on that day, Bobby had to part ways with his cherished hamster. For this dog, it marked the hardest moment he had ever faced.
“Bobby wept profusely upon seeing Barry’s tiny body. It was heartbreaking to witness,” Joanna recounted.
Shortly after that, Joanna felt compelled to create a video documenting this sorrowful event and share it on her TikTok account to express her and Bobby’s grief to others.
“My poor Bobby is in such distress; nobody discusses the pain when your pet loses their closest friend..” the caption states.
The video features a somber Bobby standing inconsolably beside the urn that holds Barry’s ashes. Subsequently, it shares the many joyous times this dog and his hamster experienced together.
Ultimately, the video concludes with a poignant statement: “We will miss you relaxing with us, Barry; Bobby would give anything to have you on his back right now… me too.”

While losing Barry was challenging for Joanna, the lovely recollections of this remarkable friendship provided her the resilience to cope. They also inspired her to share this video with her audience.
“I’ve showcased Bobby and Barry’s connection several times on my TikTok, but for some unexplained reason, it’s garnered quite an attention this time,” she stated. “I’m merely grateful that individuals can perceive that animals, regardless of everything, can forge a unique bond.”
In the end, she triumphed because many individuals had the chance to witness what a genuine relationship signifies. No one remained indifferent to these poignant moments.
