The blazing summer afternoons can pose difficulties for our cherished pets, especially for stray dogs that are already fatigued, starving, and feeble.
Southern California is famous for its bright weather; however, it can be a tough environment for homeless animals, whose population is regrettably growing each year.
A woman from Irvine, California, was leisurely strolling through a nearby park when she spotted a fluffy white dog concealed in the shade.
The unfortunate dog was isolated and exceedingly frightened, and she realized he needed rescuing immediately.
Hot, Exhausted, And Starving

When she attempted to approach him, he swiftly dashed away in terror. She couldn’t abandon him to struggle alone, so she contacted Suzette Hall for assistance.
Suzette Hall is the founder of Logan’s Legacy dog rescue in Irvine, which aids animals in need within her community and beyond.
Indeed, Suzette instantly answered the call regarding a stray dog in need of rescue.
“He genuinely required help, but he would not approach anyone. He would flee. Then he’d return to his same spot behind the building, where it was shady and secure,” Suzette recounted to The Dodo.

It was 92° at the end of July when Suzette went to save this fluffy pup. He was so terrified that he wouldn’t allow anyone to assist him, but he urgently needed help.
Hall carefully set her humane dog trap, filled with some tasty hot dogs, but as soon as he caught sight of her, he began to run away.
She feared that this would be another unsuccessful attempt at saving him when something extraordinary occurred.
“He started to flee from us, but then he stopped abruptly. He sniffed the treats in the trap as he passed by, and he spun around as quickly as he could. He dashed right into the trap,” Hall stated.
It was the first time she witnessed a dog pivot so quickly and run straight into a trap. Within five minutes, he was secure in the trap.
He Knew He Was Secure
As he devoured his tasty treats, Hall moved him to her van, where the air conditioning was running.
The poor creature was so overheated that his tongue was just dangling out.
“I got about a few miles away, and I heard him sigh, and I looked back; he was sound asleep 💤 both eyes firmly closed. He knew he was saved,” Hall shared on her Facebook.

Hall brought the dog – who was later named Mulligan – to Camino Pet Hospital for a checkup. There, he received all necessary veterinary attention and was then prepared for foster care.
“He’s so joyful now; he just smiles all the time. He’s as loving as can be. I truly, truly adore him,” Hall expressed.
According to Hall, Mulligan remains in a foster home where he is flourishing, but hopefully, he will soon discover a forever family.
