Zhuzha is a two-year-old stray canine that was discovered with a severe heartworm issue.
She had a distended abdomen and could hardly move. Locals encountered her in truly poor condition and decided to contact “Love Furry Friends” – the animal rescue organization that assists abandoned and homeless dogs in finding new homes.
Zhuzha’s tale is incredibly touching, yet also showcases the remarkable goodness of humanity. It emphasizes that when people unite for a common cause – dog lovers can achieve incredible feats!
Locals Discovered Zhuzha Roaming The Streets
Poor stray dog Zhuzha was located by locals a few months back. She was wandering the streets, searching for food and a place to rest. Regrettably, she appeared to be quite unwell, with a swollen belly and a struggle to walk.
Identified by an ear tag and stitches from a prior operation, it was apparent that Zhuzha had recently undergone spaying as part of the city’s neutering initiative.
“Love Furry Friends” To The Rescue
The rescue squad from the Love Furry Friends organization arrived promptly after receiving the locals’ call. They were informed that no one had the resources to provide Zhuzha with necessary medical treatment, leaving the unfortunate dog to fend for herself on the streets.
The team observed Zhuzha’s labored breathing, a clear indicator of a worsening illness. They recognized that the dog required immediate medical attention or she could face dire repercussions.
They lifted her up, attached a leash around her neck, and carefully placed her in a vehicle. The first destination was the veterinary clinic.
Blood Assessments Revealed Heartworms
The blood analysis indicated that Zhuzha was afflicted with heartworms – a progressive illness caused by the parasite known as Dirofilaria immitis, leading to severe symptoms like anemia, lung ailments, organ failure, and sadly, death.
“Dogs afflicted with such an illness that go untreated simply cannot survive”, remarked the LFF team.
The reason for her enlarged abdomen was attributed to poor heart function. Specifically, over 10 liters of fluid had built up in Zhuzha’s abdominal cavity, resulting in considerable swelling.
Without Intervention, Zhuzha Wouldn’t Endure
The veterinarian confirmed that Zhuzha would have undoubtedly not survived without swift treatment.
The reaction from LFF was timely, which was crucial for Zhuzha’s rescue. She was already in an advanced stage of her condition, just days away from facing devastating consequences.
Fortunately, Zhuzha was located and rescued in time, granting her the opportunity to recuperate fully in the clinic, all due to the generosity of individuals who contribute funds to Love Furry Friends, enabling them to assist countless stray dogs.
Merely ten days post-surgery, Zhuzha significantly improved. The team checked on her several times throughout her recovery, ensuring her condition was progressing positively.
After four weeks, she had completely healed and was discharged from the hospital. All the fluid that had accumulated in her abdomen had vanished.
Zhuzha Is Now Out Of The Clinic, Fully Healed
Zhuzha was welcomed into LFF’s care, which ensured she was prepared for a new family. She received dedicated care, daily walks, and essential socialization training vital for her future life with her family.
In the company of other rescues, she began to socialize and gradually adjust to communal living, which proved challenging, given that Zhuzha had spent the majority of her life alone on the streets.
She’s Seeking A Forever Home
Zhuzha is now a healthy female dog in search of a forever family. She is available for adoption, anticipating the right match. It is hoped she will discover her ideal home and experience her happily ever after.
She truly deserves this, as she is a remarkable dog. While she remains somewhat reserved, she is gradually transforming into a wonderful family companion.
