Clever Canine’s Cunning Plan to Sneak an Unlikely Companion Into the Home Before Mom Catches On

Certain canines are regarded as gentle giants, and the world wouldn’t be the same without them.

These dogs might be large, enormous… gigantic, but their affection is… believe me, even greater.

Sadly, not many individuals realize that such dogs are generally completely benign.

From my experience, I encountered more attacks from a small Chihuahua than from larger breeds like a Newfoundland or a Great Pyrenees. Yes, Chihuahuas can be quite feisty. I’m not implying that other breeds are innocent, but there’s a notable behavioral distinction… a kind of pattern observed with larger dogs.

Mya is a true representative of her breed – the Great Pyrenees. Historically, these canines were employed as herding dogs. Well, they remain exceptional herders and guardians on farms where they are needed.

Mya may not reside on a farm, but her protective instincts are still vibrant.

This now-seven-year-old Great Pyr girl delights in displaying her sociable nature. Additionally, she enjoys bringing new companions home.

Let’s just state that her owner, Rachel, isn’t particularly happy with Mya’s covert meetings.

Can I Keep It, Mom?

Everything was going so well. I found new friends. I love shelly friends. Mommy says they’re called turtles. I refer to them as shelly friends. They’re so adorable!

Right when I wanted to introduce my shelly friend to my home, mommy appeared.

Mommy says no to shelly friends.

This makes me a gloomy doggo.

Why can’t I keep shelly friends, mom?

Just when she thought she could successfully introduce yet another turtle into the house, Mya was caught.

It’s no shock; Rachel, Mya’s owner, is already accustomed to her large dog bringing home tiny companions.

Small, uncommon companions, I might add.

The first time Rachel, a young student from Sharpsburg, Georgia, spotted Mya with a turtle in her mouth, she was terrified. Could she swallow it? Would Mya harm the poor wild creature?

Fortunately, Mya demonstrated that she’s as gentle as can be. She has never harmed anyone, especially not her shelly friends.

Yes, friends, because it didn’t just end with one turtle.

Each time Mya encounters a new turtle, she attempts to bring it home. She’s somewhat of a collector. And, if not for her owner, Rachel, their Georgia residence would be overwhelmed with turtles.

This incredibly sweet Great Pyrenees never misses a chance to meet new friends and slyly bring them into the house.

That’s precisely what transpired some time ago. Mya discovered a turtle, and anticipating her mom’s denial, she tried to sneak it inside.

However, mom was already aware of Mya’s intentions. The pup refused to release the turtle outside, patiently waiting to enter.

After a little while, and with mom’s persistent reminders, Mya finally relinquished the turtle onto the floor, entirely unharmed, with the most sorrowful expression on her face.

Sorry, Mya, looks like that’s another shelly friend that won’t stay.

We don’t have any information about what transpired with the turtle, but it’s likely living a free life somewhere in the wild, far from Mya.

While this narrative is heartwarming, with a touch of humor, it’s not entirely secure for dogs to carry such creatures in their mouths. There’s always a possibility they might unintentionally injure the animal, damage its shell, or do something even more severe.

If your dog engages in behavior similar to Mya’s, ensure you maintain control and prevent your canine from playing roughly with wild animals. They’re not mere toys; they are living beings, and they should remain in their natural habitat.
