When a small, lovable puppy named Jammy made his way to Marin Humane, an autonomous nonprofit rescue in Novato, California, he quickly became a favorite.
With his incredibly cute smile and the most delightful temperament, he was cherished by the staff.
Nevertheless, Jammy was quite plump, and the shelter team needed to address this.
Introducing Jammy
Upon being surrendered to the Novato shelter because his owner could no longer care for him, Jammy tipped the scales at 17.6 pounds.
For a petite dog, his ideal weight would be around ten pounds, indicating that he was significantly overweight. Jammy struggled to move about independently, relishing the experience of being carried around.
Sadly, weight wasn’t his sole concern. Following several examinations, the team uncovered 13 bladder stones that required immediate removal. Yet, Jammy remained undeterred in his pursuit of joy.
Despite his medical challenges, he was an incredibly lovable fellow who adored spending time with all the new humans he encountered.
“Jammy is a delightful, amusing little guy. He’s sociable and laid-back, and he’s interacted well with everyone he’s met. He’s also got some quirky habits; for instance, he has a blast playing with a cat wand toy! He’s experienced a lot of handling during his stay at our shelter due to his health concerns, and he’s been exceptional through it all,” stated Julia Lamont, social media and marketing specialist at Marin Humane, to The Dodo.
In Search Of A Home
Following the operation where the veterinarians eliminated his bladder stones, Jammy spent a period in a caring foster home to recuperate.
The wonderful atmosphere facilitated his swift recovery, and Jammy returned to the shelter seeking a loving forever family. In the interim, however, he is gradually shedding his excess weight and envisioning an active household that will assist him in becoming as fit as he is content.
He is a master snuggler and revels in strolling around under the sun, guiding his human wherever he desires to go.
Jammy is also quite vocal during mealtimes and ensures everyone is aware of his thoughts on the food presented to him. As he has shared his days with other pets, he would surely appreciate the company of a furry sibling with whom he could share fun and adventurous play sessions.
All in all, this incredibly affectionate boy is a genuine gentleman who yearns for nothing more than a nurturing family to welcome him.
