A Grievous Incident
When a rescuer from Florida, Betty Walter, received a message from her friend about a dog that had been struck by a vehicle, she informed her about the appropriate contacts for this situation.
Her friend, having experience with adopting and fostering, initially thought of asking her for assistance. Despite not being able to take in more dogs, the entire situation weighed heavily on her mind.
She felt genuinely sorrowful for the dog that got hit, so after her work hours, she decided to see if anyone had come to his aid.
Upon reaching the scene, she discovered that the dog was still there, and another one was keeping watch over him.
The dogs, later named Betty White and Allen, were not on the road, but had instead located a grassy spot where they rested and awaited assistance.
Betty was the injured one, while Allen chose to remain by her side and wished to stay with her until help arrived.
Walter recounted to The Dodo: As I approached, I saw a couple of dogs in the distance, and he chased them away.
When I exited my vehicle to examine her, he ran toward me … I had to reassure him that I was there to assist.
The Incredible Connection Between Betty And Allen
The sudden approach startled Allen, as he didn’t realize she was there to provide help, making him quite anxious. After a time, she managed to calm him down, but she still needed assistance to get them into the vehicle.
Thus, she reached out to her friend who had messaged her, and she promptly came to assist. They successfully placed Betty in the car, but Allen insisted on being with her, so they assisted him in as well.
Their connection was exceptionally remarkable, and witnessing such devotion from dogs is truly touching.
At the veterinarian, they confirmed that she had a fractured pelvis, but fortunately, it was a fixable issue with surgery. Following that, she was taken to a foster home to recuperate.
Predictably, Allen remained by her side throughout the entire process. Their foster parents quickly recognized that these dogs genuinely cherished each other and enjoyed their time together.
While Allen was deemed ready for adoption, his foster mother hesitated to include him on the list because she wished for the two dogs to be adopted together.
Walter expressed: They truly adore attention. They require someone who will shower them with plenty of kisses and hugs, ensuring their safety and comfort.
Allen enjoys playing with toys, so someone to toss a ball and engage in a game of chase would be ideal. Betty likes having a bed to lie down on and remain close by your feet.
Despite her efforts to find a combined adoption, it ultimately didn’t work out, leading to Betty and Allen being adopted separately.
Even though they reside in separate homes within Florida, they still remain quite near to each other, and their owners ensure that they have opportunities for play dates occasionally.
