Brave Hikers Rescue Abandoned German Shepherd from LA Trail, Carrying Him 3 Miles Downhill

Written By Ash

When an individual possesses a generous spirit, no matter the situation and the numerous challenges, they will discover a means to perform a noble act.

An avid trekker, Omar, encountered a hiking team from Los Angeles, California, recognized as The 5 AM CREW, roughly one and a half years ago. Throughout this duration, these remarkable individuals scaled various mountain summits during the early morning hours, undergoing all sorts of experiences.

Nevertheless, nothing could rival what transpired on August 20, 2024, when they reached the peak of a trail in Los Angeles. At that moment, these extraordinary hikers demonstrated that there are still individuals in this world whose kindness is as immense as a mountain.

Upon reaching the summit of Griffith Park, located in Los Angeles, California, the hikers were thrilled that they would finally enjoy some relaxation before descending the trail.

Suddenly, their intentions shifted dramatically when they spotted a dog lying still nearby. As they moved in a bit closer, they realized it was a German Shepherd without a leash or collar, just a water bottle beside him.

Uncertain how the dog found itself there, they were determined to assist him. Observing his fearful state, Omar and his team understood that it wouldn’t be an effortless task. Nevertheless, they devised a successful rescue strategy.

After a waist pack and a jump rope proved unhelpful and they struggled to carry him for more than a few moments due to his substantial weight, they were left with only a tarp, on which one of the hikers, named Daniel Martinez, was exercising.

They carefully laid the dog on the tarp, encircled him, and each took hold of an edge of the tarp, lifting it and beginning to transport him towards the start of the trail.

Typically, the journey to that point takes about 45 minutes, but with Hiker, as they named him, it required at least an hour. Although the task was challenging, they found joy in seeing him safe and snug in the tarp.

“He resembled a sultan,” Omar mentioned during his interview with Newsweek. “And he was content as a clam by the time we arrived back down.”

In addition, Omar filmed this extraordinary rescue mission and uploaded the video on Instagram through the crew’s account, @the.5amcrew.
