Cali’s History
Initially, when Cali was welcomed into her new home, she was enjoying life to the fullest. Her family adored every aspect of her, and she was friendly with everyone.
Their lives were perfect until one unfortunate day, a terrible incident occurred. A thief abducted Cali from her yard in Long Island, and she disappeared.
The family was utterly heartbroken, and despite their tireless search efforts, they found no leads. The circumstances were grim.
After two years, a rescue organization known as Broken Promises Sanctuary learned about a neglected dog who required assistance. This was Cali, although nobody realized it yet.
She was discovered at an ordinary gas station in New Jersey, barely able to move. The attendants there took compassionate care of her until the rescuers arrived.
A young Navy recruit, Alexandra Salomon, transported her to the Broken Promises Sanctuary where they labored diligently to restore her health, as she was very frail.
Extremely Sad News
After an extensive and tough recovery, she finally emerged from critical condition and could relax somewhat. The veterinarians checked her for a microchip and were successful in locating one.
The team attempted to contact the owners, but it took some time as there was no immediate response. Eventually, Brittney diBartolo picked up the call and was informed about the recovery of her dog.
Ecstatic at the news, she and her family wished to reunite with her. Unfortunately, she was still fragile, and the veterinarians quickly discovered a tumor.
This was truly devastating information, yet they remained hopeful. They were encouraged to create a GoFundMe page to help with medical expenses.
By June 2023, they successfully raised $8,000 and initiated treatment. In time, her condition improved slightly, and she was ready to reunite with her family.
And, the reunion was a truly heartwarming moment. The entire family was overjoyed to have Cali back in their lives.
However, as fate would decree, her health took a downturn. She spent a few delightful months with her loving family before her body succumbed.
Cali crossed the rainbow bridge and is now in a peaceful place. Although her family will miss her, they will forever cherish the precious times they shared.
