Complimentary Dog Kisses At The Red Light
A woman by the name of Celina Romera was attempting to disregard the hectic traffic that day in Tampa. It was December 15th, 2020, a rather beautiful and warm day for the holiday season.
As everyone hurried, making their way towards downtown, Celina halted at a red signal and observed a man exiting his vehicle in front of her.
He wasn’t by himself.
Cradled in his large arms was a little puppy.
Celina instantly grabbed her phone and began capturing the moment as the man had a plan that would warm the hearts of everyone around.
Waiting in the adjacent lane for the lights to change was a silver vehicle with a German Shepherd in the back. The stunning dog had its head out of the window, relishing the breeze and the attention.
The two puppies had clearly spotted each other through the glass, so the man from the adjacent lane decided to introduce them.
He brought over the tiny pup and let the German Shepherd sniff him, showering him with countless dog kisses and licks. The GSD was so thrilled to meet the new friend that he nearly leaped out of the car.
Regrettably, their meeting was fleeting, lasting only until the lights shifted to green.
The silver vehicle drove away, and the man returned to his car with the puppy, also departing as the lights changed.
Celina, behind the camera, was so moved by the scene that she didn’t even mind waiting a few extra moments until the man resumed his seat.
Experiencing tiny pups and large doggos exchanging affection so spontaneously is not an everyday occurrence.
However, as someone who considers herself knowledgeable about dogs, I must point out a few nuances that aren’t as sweet about this situation. This is merely to prevent future mistakes or incidents from occurring.
Indeed, it is heartwarming that the large dog showered the puppy with kisses.
Yes, it’s incredibly uncommon to witness something like this at a traffic light.
But still, it isn’t entirely harmless.
The entire scenario could have taken a negative turn if the GSD had reacted possessively. We all know what German Shepherds tend to be like, right? They’re substantial, formidable guardians who don’t fool around with their humans or possessions.
That car represented the dog’s secure area, his second home, and bringing another dog nearby could have resulted in the GSD displaying aggression and defensiveness.
It’s crucial to understand that approaching a dog in such a scenario, or even approaching a dog like a GSD requires caution. The owner should always be present to assure the dog that any newcomer poses no threat.
Next time, if you consider doing something similar to this situation, think it through carefully. Sometimes, no matter how adorable something appears, it could take an unexpected turn than you anticipated.
