For the majority of canine rescuers, safeguarding these four-legged companions is a life objective and the utmost fulfillment. For some, regrettably, it’s merely a commercial venture.
When the kind-hearted individuals from The Animal Pad in San Diego, California, learned about over 300 dogs living in abhorrent circumstances at a fraudulent rescue, they promptly sprang into action.
Upon their arrival at the site, they were utterly appalled by the conditions they encountered.
Hundreds of dogs struggled without adequate nourishment and attention, with far too little space. Among them, within the barrel of an old washing machine, was My Girl, entirely vulnerable.
Rescued From Abominable Surroundings
When the rescuers first spotted My Girl, she was entirely despondent. She was severely ill and frail, unwilling to consume food or water.
Erica, the leader of The Animal Pad, along with her crew, poured their efforts into assisting My Girl and the remaining 397 dogs escape the facility. Fortunately, the community responded with enthusiasm, and the applications began to flow!
“I was three hours away at the rescue while other directors were sending me footage of caring for all these dogs. I was genuinely witnessing people save these dogs’ lives in real-time,” Erica remarked for The Dodo.
This black pooch tested positive for the fearsome distemper, necessitating immediate hospitalization. The team did their utmost, and the canine’s treatment commenced without delay.
She was named My Girl as the team serenaded her with a rendition of The Temptations’ “My Girl” each day during her treatment. With some nurturing and adequate care, her health began to improve.
Doing Zoomies All Day
After merely 41 days, My Girl transformed into a brand-new dog. She improved so remarkably that this Californian rescue found it hard to believe she had ever been unwell.
Her indomitable spirit and delightful disposition enabled My Girl to overcome all challenges, and she quickly emerged from her shell.
