Heroic Officer Rescues Abandoned Puppy and Takes Her Home Forever

Written By Ash

We encounter numerous tales each day about the valor of one of the most perilous careers globally – law enforcement officers. Every moment of the day, these brave individuals are on duty, ensuring our safety.

However, their roles extend beyond human beings. Rescuing and safeguarding dogs and other creatures can be equally fulfilling. Sometimes, there can even be a joyful conclusion that warms everyone’s hearts.

One such account was shared by the Augusta Maine Police Station, concerning a forsaken and injured puppy that urgently required assistance.

A Call for Help That Will Transform The Officer’s Life

On July 16, 2020, Augusta Police Officer, Sara Rogers, received an urgent call to rescue an injured dog that had been left alone on the streets of Augusta, the capital of Maine.

Since Sara always harbored empathy for puppies, especially those in such dire circumstances, it was effortless for her to quickly prepare and rush to assist the little one.

Upon reaching “the scene of the incident,” she gently took the puppy, carefully positioned her in the passenger seat, and swiftly transported her to the veterinarian for an assessment of her injuries.

While the veterinarians attended to her needs, the officer, alongside her colleagues, did everything possible to locate the puppy’s owner. Sadly, their efforts were in vain. Or, fortunately… time will tell.

The vet requested if Officer Rogers could keep an eye on the puppy throughout the night until the staff of the Kennebec Humane Society arrived, which was perfectly manageable for Sara. It seemed as if she sensed something extraordinary was about to unfold.

A Remarkable Moment Of Unbreakable Connection

She had inexplicably grown attached to her already, so she aimed to spend as much time with the puppy as she could.

She even took her meal break with her new companion, which was indeed the moment they forged an unbreakable connection.

This led to the determination that she would be happy to adopt the puppy and care for her until she became ready for adoption. Remarkably, this resulted in her entire family becoming enamored with their new household member.

Approximately a month later, on August 18, a beautiful event transpired. When the dog became ready for adoption, Officer Sara found it difficult to say “farewell.”

Rey, the name she gave the puppy after her favorite Star Wars Jedi character, found a new home sooner than anticipated. From that moment on, Rey’s new life brimmed with nothing but unconditional love.

This is truly an uplifting tale that the Augusta Maine Police Department shared on their official Facebook page with a concluding remark: “You must appreciate happy endings!”.
