When individuals relinquish dogs to an animal rescue, it’s not particularly unusual to later discover that the dog actually belonged to someone.
Often, owners neglect to put a collar or a microchip on their animals, leading to numerous issues. At times, the shelter employees may make an error, resulting in no one realizing that the dog belonged to someone.
In this account, we will discuss a family who inadvertently discovered their long-lost dog in a shelter.
Meet Juicee
For the personnel at Austin Animal Center, Juicee appeared to be just another ordinary dog when she was left there. She was exceptionally calm and cheerful. The personnel presumed she was a homeless dog because there were no microchip or collar on her.
She ended up spending nearly a year at the shelter, with no potential families expressing interest in adopting her, so the staff opted to share her pictures on Facebook and advertise her story.
Kelsey Cler, an employee of the organization, informed The Dodo: Juicee was in excellent condition when she was initially brought in. She was wary of strangers and exhibited some sensitivity to touch. Her presence in the kennel wasn’t great, which added to her extended stay.
As time went by, Juicee became more comfortable with the staff, and they enjoyed spending time with her as well.
She also socialized a great deal with other dogs in the shelter, and it was evident that she was very energetic.
Nonetheless, the staff aimed to find her a genuine home with a family that would cherish and care for her.
Juicee’s Heart Wrenching Tale
In 2021, Juicee was relishing her best life. She was a beloved family member. However, on one fateful day, she became separated from them and their neighbor informed them that their dog had passed away.
It’s somewhat unclear why he made this claim, but Cler theorizes that: There can be significant bias surrounding pit bull ownership. We can merely hypothesize on why the neighbor wished to prevent the dog from reuniting with her family.
Later, the family relocated to Miami and attempted to move on with their lives. However, one family member continued to be in a Facebook group where Juicee’s image appeared a year later.
This revelation came as a tremendous surprise to the family because they had believed she had been deceased for over a year.
They drove for 20 consecutive hours back to Austin solely to reunite with her. Cler stated: Juicee was THRILLED! No hesitation or touch sensitivity with her family — she was all over them, and they were all over her.
Their reunion was genuinely one of the most heartwarming moments anyone could witness. Shortly after, the family took the dog and returned home to Miami.
Even though it may seem like Juicee has spent a significant amount of time away from her real family, she is just so overjoyed to be reunited with them and swiftly recognized that her life would return to normal.
