Throughout many rescue stories, I think many of us have seen just how cruel some humans can be. The level of neglect or abuse some dogs go through is just heartbreaking.
But, it’s not something that we can control. The best we can do is react to it and prevent it from happening again.
For example, this adorable dog was living a normal life when his owners suddenly decided to leave, so they tied him outside the house and left.
The poor pup was on his own and couldn’t even flee from the property, but luckily for him, a group of rescuers noticed him and decided to help.
A Cruel Fate
When the rescuers first came upon this malnourished dog, they were completely stunned by his appearance.
He was so skinny, you could see his bones, and there was no telling just how long he had been stuck in that position. One thing that really surprised them was his chain.
It was absolutely massive, and it basically ensured that he couldn’t leave anywhere. So, the rescuers freed him from it and transported him inside the car.
He was taken to a veterinarian clinic where he received a checkup and his results were not great. The vet was not confident that he would survive at all.
The level of malnourishment and dehydration is unlike anything they have ever seen. He was using what little strength he had to hold on and that’s the only reason he survived.
They couldn’t believe how anyone would think to do something so cruel to an innocent dog. It was something truly heartbreaking.
A New Hope
After a detailed examination, they found that some of his body parts were going through necrosis, and he desperately needed surgery if he was going to make it.
Performing surgery on a dog who weighed only 9 kg was not safe, but it was their only option if he was going to survive.
So, they went through with it and the results were surprisingly good. They were able to remove all the damaged tissue and he was now slowly recovering.
He was receiving meals regularly and the dog was able to walk after a while. The antibiotics were doing their job and the pup was no longer in pain.
It took 3 long months, but he has finally healed. His weight was back to normal and he looked really amazing.
This was such great news for the rescuers, who were desperately hoping for his recovery for a long time.
Chevelle’s New Home
They were able to find a foster mom for him, and she took him to her house in Kansas. She took him in and this pup, now named Chevelle, was finally able to experience his new freedom.
Right around the 4-month mark, his rescuers and his foster mom prepared a wonderful party to mark his accomplishment.
Another really good news for Chevelle was that he was going to stay with his mom in Kansas. That’s right, she has decided to take him in as one of her own.
In this new home, he has wonderful new siblings with whom he can play around and go on adventures all the time. And he has the best mom he could ask for.
This was absolutely wonderful news. After everything this pup has gone through, he deserves a chance to be with someone who will appreciate him.
